Get a tour guide if you want to know the history of this beautiful place. Ps. Always be polite in this area and don't mock anything because this place is sacred. Have some respect.

Interesting palace but only a small area open for public viewing . A cultural show especially the music is outstanding. The palace staff are very nice and friendly .

I would skip this because there isn’t much going on here or to see. If there is live event , then it might be cool. Coolest thing was throne area houses bats 🦇 in the roof area.

Open from 9am-2pm, the museums in the palace complex are definitely must visit. To take pictures in the palace , buy pictures permit at the entrance - costs no more than 50 cents US$ (as of Nov 2015)

Be sure to get a guide if you're going here because most of the exhibits are in bahasa with no English translation. This was also the pit stop of leg 2 of Amazing Race Season 19!

The palace is more than just buikding complex. There is a daily performance of traditional dance as well . Ask the ticket person or your guide to get the most update information.

Correct entrance is not one you first come to when approaching from the north (where tickets are 5k) Carry on around the corner for another five minutes. 12.5k is the price at the right entrance.

The Complex is the primary kraton of the Yogyakarta Sultanate which consists of a number of low-lying buildings such as audience halls, museums , and the residences of the sultan and the queen.

In the museum look for the decorations and awards as received by the sultan. I liked: 1000 white elephants on an umbrella.

Kraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat is the primary kraton of the Yogyakarta Sultanate. The sultan and the royal court has its traditional seat there.

Guides will shamelessly proceed to explain Kraton history even when you said no. After that they will try to scam you into buying "royal" batik by pushing you into one of their batik workshops.

Come before 12pm, otherwise u can't access all the area. After 12pm, you can only access the lobby. It's not worth it.
