The Zoo’s adult male giraffe, Silver , is more than 17 feet tall. With such a long neck, it’s surprising that giraffes have the same number of vertebrae that we do—each one is just much bigger!

Look around and you’re sure to see one meerkat on guard duty, usually perched on a high point in the exhibit. Meerkats live in a colony, and the adults take turns being the lookout for danger. - San Diego Zoo
