sea lion show has some fun tricks, but the short lectures on biology and conservation may not hold the attention of your 3 year old

The new shark building is amazing! The line is shortest when everyone else is waiting for the sea lion show . Don't forget to go to the touch tank (and bar !) on the roof!

Alex Kelly

Get there at 9:55 on a week day * hit the penguin feeding when they announce it {on the warmer summer days it will be the only time to see them} * see the 11am sea lion show * be on the beach by noon!

Dustin

Get here by 10 AM and just walk into the shark exhibit

Benjamin Healy

The shark exhibit is really cool. Be sure to get in early to beat the line and venture up top to touch a tiger shark!

Nina Frumin

Nice, Clean & fun Aquarium.Don't miss the puppet shows for the little ones. Also, be prepared to have your picture taken at the entrance, for future purchase. Pictures are cute but on the pricey side.

RP Z

Don’t go if you plan to arrive after 10:30, esp. if you’re driving. Any later: no parking , busloads of kids, and LONG lines for attractions . Arrive 9:30-10, see Sharks 1st, Sea Lion show @ 11, chill .

Joseph Terranella

Sea Lion show is worth it, the new shark exhibit is great. Make sure to bring snacks as concession stand closes randomly and has a very limited menu.

Sarah Swift

Check out the ocean view deck (especially if it's hot and crowded ) to get some beach views and breeze and hourly puppet shows.

Mike

The new shark exhibit is very cool but that’s about all there is to see here. Nice time killer if you live nearby but very lame compared to other aquariums . Hit the boardwalk after.

NYC: The Official Guide

Admission on Fridays from 3pm until closing is pay-what-you-wish. Fun fact: This is America's oldest aquarium , dating to 1896.

Linda Le

The walruses and otter exhibits were the best! This aquarium is rather small due to construction , it took more time on the train getting there than to explore the entire aquarium .

Amy Eng

While everyone is watching the sea loin show quickly get on line to the shark exhibition . Line should be shorter.

Ethan McCarty

Go fish ! Admission today was only five bucks due to construction but still well worthy it.

Ed Jessup

The New York Aquarium has just recently reopened after sustaining a great deal of damage from Sandy. There is very limited attractions at the moment.

Fodor's Travel

At the Sea Cliffs, you can watch penguins, sea lions, sea otters , seals, and walrus frolic: the best action is at feeding time. Read more

a lot of it is still under renovation, so you'll want to plan to visit some other spots in coney rather than make the trip just for the aquarium

Spencer Wong

Sea Lion show saved the day, but otherwise this place is very small...only good because my toddler loves sharks and they have quite a few

Steve LeVine

It was all pretty good bathe sea lion show in the aquatheater is entertaining.

Holiday

Nice staff here;) very small aquarium . Oldest in the country . It's been under construction , 2012 hurricane sandy. Every Friday from 4 to 6, pay as you wish.

Amber Tsai

Loved the sea lion show . The aquarium is still undergoing changes post Sandy. I'll be coming back in 2015.

imbookin

This underwater world is the host to endless species of wet wildlife. This venue is perfect for a corporate picnic or a formal event . Events held are @ Oceanic Deck, Sea Cliffs, or Alien Stingers.

Roman

At the sea lion show , Sit in the middle and in the front row. You will get a chance to see the sea lion very close. Arrive early to get that seat.

The bad news: The Aquarium is still recovering after Hurricane Sandy so there are few exhibits . The good news: Admission is only $9.95 and there are cute penguins.

Len ❤❤❤

Great place for kids of all ages! Great beauty beneath the sea!

Rebecca T

Struggling hard post-Sandy only 3 animals and a little 15 min sea lion show but If you're already at Coney Island it's cute and now now only $10.

Mike Ciliento

If you don't mind a small walk, park in the Brooklyn cyclone's parking lot ($9) as opposed to the Aquarium 's lot ($25)

Hollie Sick

The oldest aquarium ! I must say the animals were the most outgoing! Can do the entire place in an hour

David Arr

Ocean Wonders is the icing on the cake . Don’t let the dated reviews keep you from visiting.

Carolyn McLauren

One of my favorite places to visit in NYC!! Unfortunately, super storm Sandy has caused some exhibits to be closed.

veronique @ zaptravel.com .

Right off the boardwalk, this fun, kid-friendly aquarium offers lots of opportunities to peek at creatures of the waterworld.

imbookin

A great place to host a kid's bday party! Have an adventurous little one? Alien Stingers is the space for it. Or oggle over the cute penguins, seals, otters at the sea cliffs!

Sandy Saint Louis-Lindor

The aquarIum was only 40% open. They are still rebuilding after super storm Sandy . They will most likely be 100% open by spring 2014 they said. ...hopefully!

The Corcoran Group

Not the most fancy aquarium , but it’s really enjoyable. Make sure you catch the sea lion show and encounter the sharks and penguins .

Xander Ditzel

Make sure to check out Tacoma and Cleo at the sea lion exhibit . Tacoma is a total clown.

John Smith

if you are seeing the sea lion show sit by the stools in the front row center where the seals will hop up and greet you

Eugenia Jackson

My boyfriend took my son here for his 7th birthday & he had a great time!!

Monica Cullen

The Penguins! The underwater viewing area was closed, but they are still so fun!

Very nice place to visit with kids

Ashley Alvarez

Getting back on its feet post Sandy but the otters at feeding time are the best!

Tiffanni J

The aqua theater was the best thing from the whole aquarium . Bring you own food. It saves you a lot of money.

nancita jones

Wednesdays are free from 3:00pm. You still need to get timed tickets.

Lisa

Eva is absolutely the sloooooooowest ice cream server!! On line 20 min so far and there were only 3 ppl ahead of me!! In front of penguin area.

Chelsea V.

Even though they're still rebuilding after Sandy, there's not much to see or do here anyway. We were there for about 45 mins. Big disappointment.

Rashida S

Fishes are beautiful...all different shapes and sizes.

imurbbydoll

Don't miss the Sea lion show ! Its really fun!

Erin Schulte Collier

Do you enjoy claustrophobia? Definitely go in a weekend afternoon! The walruses are cool, though.
