Don't freak out seeing the long lines , it moves pretty fast and is totally worth the wait. I always get potato ball , ham croquette , cheese rolls , and guava strudel .
Aside from the famous cheese roll , tried the apple and guava strudels and chocolate croissant . Their cubana sandwich is also good. Pair them up with Latte . Cakes are great and prices are not bad.
There's always a lot of people but its worth the wait! Watch the signs for lines . Cakes only, Cafe , Pastries . I love the potato balls and the baked ham and cheese croissants ! Cheese rolls with guava !
My favorite of all Porto's locations. Always crowded , but no surprise because the pastries , sandwiches , and drinks are delicious! Potato balls , cheese rolls , guava strudel , plantain chips , YES!
If you have time to hang out here, you definitely should try the breakfast croissant . I love the omelette ham & cheese !
I'm from Brazil where we have great bakeries but have to say Porto's is one of the best bakeries I've ever tried. Everything is great. This is a must go in LA. I wish they open units in Europe!
GOTTA GET potato balls & cheese rolls . Everything else they have is also good but lines gets reeaaally long especially on Sunday afternoons
This place is HUGE, the staff is super friendly the various alternatives for breakfast , lunch or dinner are what you expect from a pure Panaderia Puertorriqueña but Cuban style !
lines are quick an fast although they are long! I love the meat balls and all their pastry items are mouth watering delicious. so fresh!
Any of the three Porto's that you go to will have long lines , the restaurant @ Downey is the only one that I've seen has three different lines . Definitely take your patience along with you.
Though you might be tempted to fill up on potato balls and cheese rolls , make sure to save room for one of their sandwiches ! We love the cubano and the pan con lechon .
There is parking in the back behind, there is city parking structure . The guava cheese rolls and potato balls are great for a snack .
If you've never been here... It's a must try! Whenever I'm around the area I always have to make a quick stop. I'm addicted to their dulce de leche cookies !
Their Tres Leches cake is awesome. The line tends to move fast. Staff moves pretty quick. Cheese rolls , potato balls , everything in their bakery cases...great!
My Common Order: Guava Cheese Strudels (Refugiados), Meat-Filled Pies (Pastel de Carne), Potato Balls , Cuban Sandwich ....Tomorrow I start my diet!
The horchata latte with the guava & cheese roll is superb. The chicken croquettes are like Brazilian coxinhas but even more delicious.
I have been going to Porto's (in glendale, when it was the only one) since I was a very little girl. I saw this bakery grow from a little hole in the wall to the expansion it is today. I LOVE PORTO'S!
If you're ordering a full cake , there's a special line for you :) Go straight to the "whole cakes " line rather than the main (super long) lines . You can also order other pastries in addition too
Try Cuban tamale , papa rellena, ham croquet , meat pie , plantain croquet , gauva pastry , tres leche cake , cuban cake , cuban sandwich , Materva soda....and anything else thats cuban
More than yammy! It is like Europien bakery . It's remainding me this place my home back to Czech republic. I hope they'll open more stores close to Southbay area or beaches .
Porto’s Bakery Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda Relief FundraiserUntil Wednesday, December 4 Each Porto’s Bakery location will donate 20% of the sales from regular size Cheese Rolls to the American Red Cross.
Absolutely incredible pastries ! Don't be overwhelmed at the counter and know you will leave with at least three boxes full of sugary goodness.
Order as many guava cheese pastries and chicken croquettes as you can afford , because you will want more tomorrow.
Who doesn't love a place where they have so many deserts makes you want to buy all of them.
Porto's awesome food never disappoints though the lines are long. Staples to get are the cheese rolls , potato balls , empanadas . Great pan con lechon sandwich . Love the dulce de leche latte ! :)
Inca Kola contains 40g sugar. It explains a lot if what I've seen here so far. Other than that, employees seem friendly and baked good is amazing!
Cheese rolls and guava cheese strudel are a must try! Don't fret too much about the queues as it goes fast
The Bistec Sandwich is soooo good! I wish I had some jalepeños to eat it with. This place is definitely worth the hr and a half drive round trip.
Pastries , Cuban sandwich , and potato balls are good.
Delicious like usual. Didn't expect the place to be so big :D it's a nice place to hang out with friends and family
The Italian sub was amazing! And the blended mocha was the best I ever had.
Best bakery in Los Angeles!!! Prepare to wait in line . But, overall a wonderful experience. The bakery has been featured on the Food Network.
Ham croquettes and spinach feta croissants are definitely worth the wait. Desserts are great too.
Coxinha and tuna croissant !!! I loved it very much 😍😍😍 everyone should try! Awesome
The italian sub is really good. The potato balls guava and cheese strudel are naturally, delicious. The mango and green tea smoothie are delicious as well .
The chorizo and egg sandwich is one of the best things between bread I've ever had. Add some Tapatio for just the right kick, and a fresh-squeezed OJ to wash it down. Booya!
Guava and cheese empanadas are a must, also try the blueberry and caramel cookies oh and don't forget the alfajores!
The chorizo and egg breakfast sandwich is one of the best things between bread I've ever head. Add some Tapatio for just the right kick, and a fresh-squeezed OJ to wash it down.
Cubano sandwich , steak torts , potato balls , chicken empanadas , cheese rolls , Cuban meat pies ....
I prefer the line in the left. I think it goes shorter & you can order the same as the right line . Potato balls are the best.
If you haven't heard o this place already ... It's not to miss ... Absolutely delicious ... From the coffee to the delectable desserts to the Cuban sandwiches ... Amazing!!!!!
Everything here is delicious! I prefer the savory food while hubby dies for the desserts !
Potato balls and their pastries are the best! It's noisy and crowded but worth the wait.
Try the Mojito fusion passion fruit drink 👍
The chicken croquettes are like a little ball of friend chicken & biscuits that you get from The Cheesecake Factory.
Try the rellenitos...especially the ones with banana . They are yummie. Also if you don't like lines don't come here. Always a line but worth the wait.
Insanely busy but lines move quickly. Cheap and delicious baked goods and Cuban-style good.
It's cheaper to order a dozen for potato balls , cheese rolls or guava cheese rolls . You can also order any number of baked goods from the deli side.
Don't let the large crowd scare you off. The Pastry line moves very quickly and is 100% worth it. Awesome to have Porto's in Downey!
I had the vegetarian sandwich (breaded eggplant ). I loved it!
