A great REI. Friendly people, great selection. The layout is a bit haphazard because of the building.
REI is the best place for hiking boots . They will let members return boots (even if you've hiked in them). It's worth it to pay a little more for the reassurance you will get the right pair in the end

Huge store, overly attentive store clerks, and a decent selection of camping/backpacking gear. No where near as expansive in choices as sports basement , but this places is more posh, so...
They were able to turn around some ski bindings in 24 hours when sports basement turned us away. The membership gets you significant discounts .
REI is my favorite sporting goods store. Get the membership, it is totally worth it!
