If there is a tournament on then you should go! Get a seat upstairs not a box, go between 3-6. Don't run up the stairs. Might be worth renting radio of English translations. Correlate with Wikipedia.

Awesome space! Come early and grab day tickets, but the evening sessions for the high ranking rikishi are the best. Read up some history + rules for sumo before you go, to maximise your enjoyment!

Exciting stuff. Come early, as it may be hard to find your seat. You'll be sitting on the floor, so don't wear a miniskirt unless you want to flash everyone there.

Time flies here. Experience is unforgettable so try it once in a life at least. Start early to see the difference between juniors and masters, both will bring you joy.

Western style chairs are like cinema seats. Go for the Chairs Section A and enjoy the sumo!

Sumo wrestlers appear to be demigods to the Japanese. Join the crowd at the entrance to cheer the wrestlers being dropped of by car ("similar to the oscars red carpet!").

You have to be at 7:00 am to get one of the 350 tickets avaliable for tourists .

If you have half the change of going to a match, go! And enjoy the show

Arrive no later than 7:00am if you want to try to get general admission tickets for that same day. If you aren't able to get tickets, there are sometimes same day box seats made available.

Second floor seats are good to get a good view ! Don't need to spend more to be closer to the action, the atmosphere is great everywhere! Watch out for the Ganji wrestlers!

Sumo matches are held at Kokugikan in January, May and September. The first match was held over 1500 years ago. It's still the most popular sport in Japan .

2階前方の席。天皇陛下が観戦される時の席位置、目線といえば分かりやすいか。2階ですが1階マス 席の後ろ側より土俵に近く見やすいです。また小さなテーブルも付いていて快適 。国技館 で一番おすすめの席かも 。

場所中じゃなくても相撲博物館 は無料で見学 できます。また施設内まで入れませんが、敷地内には入れますので記念撮影など、場所中ではなくてもそれなりの観光 スボットとして活用できます。

冷めても美味しい焼き鳥 （正肉 3本、つくね2本入り）600円。2階レストラン 「雷電」では温かい状態で食べる事が出来ます。また、東京、上野、新宿などのJR駅構内のお弁当 販売店、JR東日本管轄の一部の新幹線の車内販売でも購入出来るようになりました。

自由席 券（２階イス席の最後列＝14列目）は、取組日当日午前８時から国技館 切符売場で販売開始。　大人2,200円、小人(4歳～15歳)200円。　１人１枚だけの販売で複数枚確保したい場合でも全員が並ぶ必要がある。

相撲を見に来たことはないのですが、以前、スターバックスジャパンの株主総会がここが多かったです。

地下の大広間でちゃんこ 300円で食べられます。観戦のお供は地下の工場 で作ってるやき とり。

14時過ぎ、十両の土俵入り が始まる頃に幕内力士が国技館 入り。どちらを見るか迷うところ。生 で近くでお相撲さん見るのも捨てがたし。

土俵の周りには以前は四隅に柱が立っていたが、1953年から始まったTV中継の邪魔になると、前年の1952年に「吊り屋根」に変わったらしい。

相撲の時の定員は11,098名。1985年1月場所 より使用。もと国鉄バス駐泊場（旧両国貨物駅跡地）に建設 された。新国技館 は地上2階、地下1階。総工費150億円（全てを借金なしでまかなった）。建設 計画発表から3年の歳月で1984年11月30日に完成。翌年1月9日、盛大に落成式が催された。

外国語の情報少なすぎる。チケット売場のスタッフ だけは、やけに流暢で丁寧な英語だったけど、他は今一つ。特に館内の案内係 には、英語の質問に対応出来ない様子もあった。金だけ払わせたら、もうおしまい、という感じがして、余り良い気分ではなかった。観客の一割（もっと？）は、非日本語話者なのだから、もう少し親切にしないといかんのでは？

大相撲の土俵に撒いている塩は、伯方塩業株式会社（本社・愛媛県今治市 伯方町 ）の「伯方の塩」です。

本場所中以外は常設売店で相撲土産 が買えます。10:00～16:00、不定休ですので｢国技館 常設売店｣で調べてから。

コロナ以降、座席での飲食は禁止。しかも買うのに並びます。飲食の持ち込み 禁止なので、食べてから来るのがおすすめ。

正面は西北西の方角を向いており、東方は北北東、西方は南南西、向正面は東南東と実際の方角とは一致していない。
