Dozens of temples & shrines . Can't visit them all? Then this is 1 of d must-visits. Within d city , this is our 2nd fav, after Sensoji in Asakusa. Not 2 crowded & a stone's throw away from Tokyo Tower.

Definitely worth the visit. This was the only temple I could go close to the praying area and observe the location close.

Visit this beautiful temple on your way to Tokyo Tower from Hamamatsu-cho station. Not many tourist crowds around.

境内でののんびりした風景に、さるまわし芸、のどかな風景に一時の笑い、日本ですね。！ 浄土宗 の七大本山の一つ。三縁山 広度院増上寺（さんえんざんこうどいんぞうじょうじ）が正式の呼称です。酉誉聖聡（ゆうよしょうそう）上人によって、江戸貝塚（現在の千代田区平河町 付近）に、浄土宗 正統根本念仏道場 として創建され、その後、文明2年（1470）には勅願所に、関東における浄土宗教学の殿堂として宗門の発展に寄与する。 Read more

安国殿の黒本尊は秘仏で1、3、9月の15日しか拝めませんが、本殿の阿弥陀如来はいつでも拝めます。また本殿では早朝や夕方5時頃には御勤めをしていますので薄暗い中ぼうっと明るく浮き上がるような阿弥陀様を拝みながらお経を聴くことができます。

江戸時代の初め源誉存応（げんよぞんのう）上人が徳川家康公の帰依（きえ）を受け大伽藍を造営、以後徳川将軍家の菩提寺として興隆。さらに江戸時代総録所として浄土宗 の統制機関ともなる。 戦災によって徳川将軍家霊廟は焼失しましたが焼失をのがれた三門・経蔵・黒門などを含む境内は、昭和四十九年（1974）完成の大本堂とともに、近代的に整備されました。

Muito próximo da Torre de Tóquio, esse templo é dedicado a crianças natimortas. É bem triste, por isso, mas oferece alento as famílias.

増上寺 の裏にある、徳川将軍家墓所から東京タワーを眺めてみた。桜の季節であれば綺麗なこと間違い無い！

江戸三十三観音霊場第21番札所＊

空襲で多くの木造建築 が焼けてしまった東京では貴重な大型木造建造物である三門は見事。

年越しのタイミングではタワーは消灯しているようです。

本殿のすぐ後ろに東京タワーがそびえ立っていて壮観です

トイレは男性用女性用共に本堂の地下両サイドにあり。※トイレ出入口は男女共通。(写真 参照)

時々、徳川家の霊廟公開をしてますがもちろん中までは見れません

土日祝の晴天時には猿回しの大道芸 が見られます。

徳川将軍家墓所は必見の価値あり！御朱印は大殿の横の安国殿へ！

徳川家康の眠るお寺で、本年も「勝運」のお守りを授かる！勝つ。

やはり、お寺は落ち着きます
