This is the place to go if you want comfort food or Southern classics like hush puppies alongside your Memphis-style (dry rubbed and hickory smoked) ribs . Read more
The corn bread is great. Has corn kernels in it. It comes with maple syrup butter, which is amazing. Also try Georgia chicken fried steak . Big portion with 2 sides. Totally worth it.
If you're hungry somewhere near Times Square, this is the place you'll need to stop. Great food, short waiting time , prices aren't too high.
I went with my best friend Rosie for the first time and the ribs were so delicious. I ordered the trash ribs with Mac and cheese and collar greens. I was in heaven with this delicious meal.
Authentic southern BBQ . Go hungry like a true Redneck and order a spiked Peach Tea , which is strong yet refreshing. The mac 'n cheese , pulled pork , and pickled beets are to die for.
The wings are amazing! The Blue cheese dressing is my favorite ever!! Brisket , pulled pork and pulled xhicken are very good too. Try the cornbread . We come here every time we make a trip to NYC <3
The brisket and 1/4 BBQ chicken combo is an excellent choice. The ribs are great too. My plus one and I had the hush puppies with maple butter and the wings for starters. Try the honey lemonade .
The pick 3 is awesome! Too much for the average appetite but way awesome. Brooklyn guys who studied down South and hit a home run!
Trainwreck Fries are a must. I got pick three with Memphis Ribs , Pulled Pork , and Brisket and all three r great. BBQ Nachos not that good b/c wasnt much beef in them. Appetizer portions are too big.
First time having BBQ food in the USA and it was great! I feel like I shouldn't eat again for a week, but regret nothing. Pulled pork was really good, as was the Mac and Cheese ????
So this is my first time here, im sitting at the bar ,the friendly bartender is knowledgable about the food &I have to say, I got chickenfriedsteak w/mashed &collards , these collards are the best ever
Much better BBQ than you would expect for times square. If there are 2 of you, get two combos to share - brisket , pulled chicken pulled pork and the trash ribs . You won't leave hungry
I'll recommend you to get Trainwreck Fries but make sure you are hungry. It's writing below the starters but it is not a starter, it's a huge and delicious dish!!
If you love Banana Pudding you will love it at Virgil’s Real BBQ . It’s so delicious. I had it tonight with my best friend
Great BBQ and southern food .We had nachos and BBQ chicken . Everything comes with sides like mac&cheese and mash potatoes . Big portions and very good location.
Fast service and good sized portions - we shared the combo sharer and it was good with texas beef being the best amongst ribs and pulled chicken that we ordered.
Favorites include the nachos , hush puppies , and chicken wings ! Frozen mojitos were also a hit????. Servers and manager were incredibly friendly ; huge fan, went twice in one day!
The Trainwreck fries are my favorite way to get fat. Make sure you find someone to split this delightful work of art with.
Classic southern style bbq . Simple but good. Try the pork ribs , or the brisket . They are finger-lickin' good. Good beer assortment too.
Great BBQ . The sign of a great BBQ joint is if they can make a great brisket without it being dry. I had a brisket sandwich which was fabulous
The ribs and brisket are excellent! The service was very fast even during the busy holiday time.
Authentic BBQ but the portions are too big! Ordered 3 starters for 3 people and there was enough food to feed 10! Really nice food though :-)
Great brunch with both savory and sweet elements! Service was quick and friendly , and the setting is really authentic USA!
Tender brisket , slide-off-the-bone ribs , and mouth-watering pulled pork . Get any of those and pair it with the trainwreck fries , you won't know what to do with yourself.
One of my fav BBQ places . Come with an empty stomach! Very hearty portions . Loved the Carolina pulled pork and Memphis style pork spare ribs . Mac&cheese and potato salad are also delish!
Get the platter with the tri tip , the ribs , all the meats and just enjoy. Good flavors with or without sauce. The hushpuppies are awesome.
Mediocre grill. Tried the platter for 2, lots of meat, but arrived nearly cold at our table. Friendly staff , good beer , prices cheap for times square!
My best tip for everyone is to make reservations before going there, because you will have to wait a while if you don’t have any. I made my reservations ahead of time.
There aren't many great restaurants at times square, but the BBQ here is solid. Far better than Dallas BBQ in the area. Ribs and brisket were tender. Service was fast. Food a little pricey .
Virgil's was inspired by some of the most notable BBQ in the South. Now you can try Southern cooking right in the middle of Times Square.
Margs will get you lit, pulled pork will get you stuffed, the staff is great and the game is always on. Forget about table setting, we only sit at the bar . Def try the Trainwreck Fries .
Their side dishes were better than the meat itself, but overall it was a very good meal. Recommendation: get the mac and cheese !
Amazing BBQ food - really is close to what we found in Nashville and Memphis! Friendly staff too
Be careful .. HUGEST plates on planet Earth ????. Try the chicken wings ????
Crab popcorn and bbq salad are amazing. Huge portions , Europians can’t manage to eat a dish ????
Despite the crowds, you won’t wait long to dive into Train Wreck Fries , Virgil’s Pig Out, Corn Bread , Virgil’s Coleslaw and Cheese Grits with a Fall Off The Porch Ice Tea .
I took the advice of trip advisor reviews and didn't order an entree by myself. I got the trash rubs appetizer and it was a perfect size. Good happy hour deals too.
Virgil’s has been a place I’ve flown to from other countries just to visit. But just wow, is the service abysmal now. D-
The Memphis ribs are out of this world!!! Do not put extra barbecue on them! And the cornbread is amazing as well .
The best plate is their brisket . And I love their Maple Butter abd Biscuits . I pick only biscuits for my sides!
Brisket , Pulled Pork and ribs were very good. Get the Pig Out for two and try all of them.
Huge portions . Omg the portions are massive. Did I mention the portions are really big? Also get the biscuits .
Reservations can be made through open table, the Virgil’s Real BBQ website online or by phone as well . Enjoy
Not the best, but you can get very good authentic BBQ at this Times Square institution. Get reservations to avoid the wait.
Everything I have tried has been amazing. Always a stop on my travels.
Brisket and half chicken was really good potato salad not so much also good service
Hush puppies and trainwreck fries all day!! Try the wings too! Very different then the wing your used too, has a fantastic dry rub and white bbq sauce !!
This place has some fantastic BBQ . Almost as good as the BBQ joints I'm used to down south.
The fresh homemade Limonade - delicious
Nice atmosphere, amazing Pork Spare Ribs ! Check out also the Trainwreck Fries ;)
Go hungry. No need for bbq sauce for the beef ribs and pork ribs -- so flavorful alone. Leave room for sides and dessert! Great for groups. - Nicole
Great strawberry daiquiris and tasty food. Really reasonably priced for Times Square and huge portions! - Gail Fisher
Deliciously flavorful BBQ!! Gotta say though - the pulled pork, brisket and Mac & Cheese (as AMAZING as they are here) are better at their Brooklyn location. - Stephanie P.
Always my favourite place to be when I am in NY. Love the dynamic. - Atika Al-Bimani
Beautiful respite from a New York day. Plenty of seating, free table tennis, and nearby vendors. - John Gardiner IV
It's a lovely theatre. If there's a play you want to see I highly recommend it. We saw Farinelli and the King and it was FANTASTIC! - Barry Guettler
