100+ Massive sculptures . 500 acres of manicured greens and forrest. Picnics . Free tours . Calder, Lichtenstein, Serra. An hour from NYC. What are you waiting for?
Rumor (started by me) has it that the Dharma Initiative created these installations and they have weird functional purposes. Or, you know, it's just great art across many many beautiful acres.
Spend some time out of the city and come here for the day! The sculptures are grand, the air is fresh and the views are beautiful. Bring a picnic and set up at one of the tables by the parking lots .
Bring a picnic and go in Fall for epic leaf and sculpture peeping. Get there before 11 am or after 3 pm to get in during high season since the parking lot gets full.
PSA if you spent anytime cutting through the longer grass, check yourself for ticks. These sneaky critters will latch on and try to catch a free ride back to NYC
Pack up a picnic basket, a blanket, and a bottle of wine & come up on a nice day of people watching , sculpture scoping, and afternoon napping. Beautifully maintained and a lovely break from the city !
Awesome day to spend a day outdoors. You can spend hours stumbling upon epic sculptures or bring a picnic and lounge amidst them
The art work is amazing and varied. Plus being outside with the bird chirpping and mountains in the back drop make this a must see/do. Just be sure to have comfy shoes .
A must place to visit at least once in your lifetime. Spectacular sculptures located in the nicest piece of land in upstate NY. Loved it!
One of my favorite places on earth...seeing it in fall is a totally different experience than in spring or summer. Multiple trips highly recommended
We love coming here in the spring and fall. The day after thanksgiving is the last day of the season and, depending on the weather, can be a very peaceful way to walk off turkey .
Come early and pack a picnic to enjoy out in the park . They have multiple picnic areas , and even serve liquor now at their cafe . If you get tired, hop on their little trolley! I love this place.
Come prepared to wander for a few hours. Amazing collection of artists on display. No matter how crowded it gets you can still find a quiet , empty spot.
What a way to escape the city ! Was able to spend a fall day walking through this sculpture park ; it was fantastic. Be sure to bring your camera and good company.
Date Night Is... a day trip up to Storm King Art Center. An absolutely fabulous place to escape to on a spring/summer afternoon. Bring a picnic and find the perfect tree to nap beneath.
They have reciprocal membership with several museums in the city . Check on their website for detailed information.
Genius: big, beautiful art scattered in surprising places across a rolling landscape of forest , meadow, hillside and glen. Among the most exquisite experiences of art I've had.
Find the George Cutts sea weed sculpture in the north woods. Stare at it from every angle. Discover truths about the universe .
Don't be overwhelmed at the size, you can see a large portion of the park in an hour, and almost the whole thing in 2. Really a special place.
This place is a lot bigger then I bought it would be. Take the free shuttle around to see how it's laid out and then walk back to the areas you want to explore more. Bring a picnic !
Beautiful sculpture sit on 500 acres of rolling hills , easy day trip from the city . Stunning views and wide open spaces .
You’re a better person for experiencing this place at least once in your life. Walk. Breathe. Explore. A must visit for anyone who appreciates... things.
Ideal for claustrophobes (or people with young children), the 500-acre sculpture park is entirely outside. Stroll the grounds and stumble across works by Maya Lin , Roy Lichtenstein & Alexander Calder.
This huge outdoor sculpture garden is just an hour north of the city . As you can imagine, it’s quite a contrast to the hustle and bustle of inner-New York, spanning 500 acres
Make sure you check Storm king out in spring, summer and fall..its been a different experience each time
Get out of the city and take a day trip during the Fall! Get there early to make sure you can rent bikes . Also packing a snack is wise, although the snackbar is serviceable.
Defs worth the drive to see all the art and sculptures - bring some food and picnic on the grass with some friends! Check out the wave field by Maya Lin as well .
Really vast wide open space , bring a nice picnic and you can spend the whole day here just rolling around the grass and meditating
Bring your prosciutto , cheese and wine . Come early: there's plenty of seeing and relaxing up there.
If you love nature, add this to your bucket list. If you love modernism or abstraction, go soon. And, if you love sculpture go NOW. Pack a lunch & head out to Maya Lin 's rolling fields for a picnic .
A photographer 's dream. It's really breathtaking and a great day trip from NYC (less than 2 hrs).

You can either rent a bike or hop on and off on a free tram that runs every 30 minutes. I can spend me whole day there, very relaxing place to go to.
A beautiful place to see unique art in a natural space. It is a lot of walking but you can do it at your own pace.
Best sculpture park in New York! You need at least 3 hours here. They close at 4:30 in Nov. so get there early!
Wear comfy shoes and you can walk almost all day there. Except art works there're squirrels, muskrats and chipmunks all over the place.
Sadly, they only let you bike if you rent one of their’s which run $12/h (2 hour min) per person.
Truly special place. Pack a picnic and prepare to spend 3-5 hours exploring.
Rent a bike to explore the entire field . $16 for 2 hours. Totally worth it!
Get your exercise and enjoy the scenery at your own pace or take a tour with a docent
Take a day off work and go in the middle of the week. It's much easier to appreciate the zen and landscape while it's quieter .
Have you ever seen the movie Jurassic Park ? Well , this is a lot like that but instead of dinosaurs you've got sculptures .
