Great spot in the heart of Philly. The prices are still cheap and the lines are still long. But they move fast. They have hoagies too. It’s great watching them cook to order. Friendly service too
Pass on the usual Geno 's vs Pat's rivalry. Jim's Steaks cheesesteak is cheeeeezy good. I bet you can make at leaat 1 disappear. Don't miss the onions & peppers . #foodart
You can never go wrong with a good steak from Jim's! Line moves fairly fast. Eat upstairs as the space up there is surprisingly decent. Get the Cheese Steak with American Cheese , mayo and onions ! Yum!
By far, THE MOST delicious Philadelphia Cheese Steak Sandwich on the Planet! There are close seconds, but, as a "Born and Raised in Philadelphia" guy....Jim's is the best!
There it is - the infamous Philly Cheesesteak ! ????I liked the vibe and the Cheesesteak here but I do not dare to label a favourite as some friends will always be disappointed. ????
Jim's Steaks re-opens on May 1, 2024 at 4:00 PM after a fire had gutted the establishment in July 2022. Expect long lines in the early weeks after the re-opening, therefore pack your patience.
Get the classic steak with onions , wiz and a little ketchup . Can't be beat anywhere in the city .
Don't fall for the Pat's and Geno 's tourist trap. Get the best cheesesteaks in Philly here at Jim's. The biggest draw is the extremely tender and well-seasoned beef . Lines can snake out the door.
Come here at breakfast or before 11am to avoid the long lines at this cheesesteak institution! Order the cheesesteak with Whiz and grilled onions - "wiz wit !"
Not just cheesesteaks ...one of the best hoagies in the city ! Go for the Special Italian with Prosciutto (Salami , Capicola , Imported Ham & Provolone Cheese , LTO)
Bloody divine ???? Even though it was my second cheesesteak of the morning!!
According to the locals, JIM'S is the place to go over Gino's or Pat's. This was the best damn cheesesteak I've ever tasted. "ONE WHIZ WIT "
Forget Pats and Genos . Jims is life. Eat one half of your cheesesteak over the other half so the grease doesnt get lost because that stuff is pure concentrated flavor! Get a Yuengling too!
Forget Pat's and Geno 's. Seriously. Jim's is now at the top of my cheesesteak list. Yum! ????
Wiz with onions and ADD THESE PEPPERS. They taste like those toasted peppers in sichuan or hunanese food and they turn your sammy up to 11. Not too hot but help cut the grease yo
Cheese steak with extra whiz and onions .. Ask for the jalapeños on the side! Worth the wait.. Expect it to be a messy eat!
The line is worth the wait. Cash only . Bring a slice of pizza and wrap your cheese steak in it for a unique Philly experience. THEY HAVE VEGETARIAN OPTIONS. <3
US Prime Beef Black Angus ! Got the one with American Cheddar but originally it's with the Whiz ! Was very good!
I don't care what people say about Pat's and Geno 's...the whiz wit at Jim's is the best cheesesteak in Philly .
It was my first official Philly Cheesesteak & I enjoyed the experience. The food was pretty good but be prepared to pay extra for everything. Mushrooms , tomato , lettuce etc. The cook was really nice.
Well ,I have sampled the big 3 Philly joints in the city and I gotta tell ya,This place is #1.Authentic Cheesesteaks served promptly for standard price. The Philly may not have started here but it--
Best customer service ever. Always super pleasant. One of the guys even took time from his break to walk me to a cigarette shop. You've made a customer for life with that kind act.
I love Jim's and think they have the best cheese steaks in Philly. Unfortunately when I was there last Friday, I saw multiple mice running through the upstairs eating area and was very disturbed.
I'm not sure why people like this place. I thought the cheesesteak was chopped hamburger and the dining experience was lackluster overall. My fav is still Tony Luke's above all.
The cheesesteak is meaty and great with the onions , you can get some extra spice to complement it.
The staff are fantastic, so friendly !!! And the cheesesteak was amazing—even after traveling back to my hotel to have it!
We're only picking ONE cheesesteak place...and it tis Jim's. Yes you'll get your "I went to Philly" cheesesteak , but it also has some great seating and eye candy on the walls when it's not packed.

Next time I'll ask for extra whiz . Only cheesesteak I've had in philly and it was worth it!
This was my first and new favorite Philly cheesesteak at Jim's! Try it with whiz and onions , it's classic. Plus Peter, Paul, and Mary loved it. Too cool :)
Best cheesesteak in Philly . Prepare to stay in line to order and then to stay in another line if you want to dine in.
Had the traditional cheese steak and it was really good! Highly recommend!
Not sure if my tastes have changed or Jim's has gone downhill. The steak was dry and under seasoned. The bread and peppers were still good. Plenty of good memories here, so I'll still come back.
If you make it to the hot mess that is South Street in Philly, be sure to try this hidden gem in the cheesesteak game; Jims on South.
Top 5 cheesesteak joint. Super touristy but awesome nonetheless. Canned whiz is the way to go.
One of the best places to have a Philly cheesesteak . The "cheese " that comes on the sandwich is actually Cheez Whiz , so if you want American or provolone , let them know!
Worth the wait, definitely try it with the wiz. Not just tourist eating there, there are also a lot of natives there too.
One of Philly's most popular local cheesesteak joints gives you the opportunity to try "South Street Sushi " - a Jim's steak rolled into a slice of neighboring Lorenzo's pizza . Hold the onions ... Read more
Overheard them mocking us for asking for extra wiz after they made the sandwiches . I would've laughed with you if it was to my face instead of "quietly " to a coworker. Pretty tasty though so whatever.
Very authentic and tasty. And you will have to wait a bit, but it is so worth it.
Jim's has better bread than Geno 's or Pat's. Also if you opt for provolone they "scientifically" put the cheese and steak on the bread to ensure proper meltitude.
Awesome subs ! Will recommend and will visit again.
Great place! We had the Cheese Steak and it was AMAZING! Definitely a MUST to go visit.
Worth to try cheese steak here, wish I had try with more topping.
Classic cheese steak with provolone and hot and sweet chillies on the side! Beer and check! Walk around!
The highlight is the fried chili soaked in the oil. DELICIOUS!!!
Authentic Philly cheesesteak ! And a Black Cherry Dr. Brown’s soda !
The cheese steak is amazing ! Enjoyed myself like no other! Truly worth the wait and time :)
Only 10 minutes in line . Great food and even something for us vegetarians on the menu! Worth the 6 block walk from Independence Hall.
This is my favorite place! Better than all the other cheese steak places and worth the wait!
Excellent sandwiches. Not exactly cheap, and long lines at lunch time... but totally worth it! - Al Duque
I haven't been to Jim's, but I think Ishkabibble's philly cheesesteak was GREAT! The beef is flavorful & they put loads of cheese! The service is quick and very good too. - Tanya Cuvinar-Ebuen
Delicious! Try the pizza style Philly Cheesesteak!! - Samantha Moore
It's a beautiful area and the tours are great! Fun Philly neighborhood. Great restaurants nearby! - David Waldman
Went here a couple of weekends ago! Gotta say overall I love this store but they need to think about expanding and making the store bigger! It tends to get way to crowded in there!!!! - Amanda Sabatino
Tour is a must. Guide was amazing, left feeling super patriotic. - Samantha Muilenburg
