Credit Cards | Yes (incl. Discover) |
Be sure to get a Passport - good for 3 days for $26. Otherwise, it is $6 each way. We took cable cars , buses and trolleys ALL over the city to get around and really saved!
One of the most interesting and touristic spots. There is always a line , waiting could be upto 30-45 min. Worth to wait for an authentic experience. Tickets are 7USD, sold right there in a box office .
7 usd for a one way trip, leaves you on Market St. Try to wait until you are among the first ones to choose a great seat. After a couple of stops you can stand up. Totally worth it.
It's always fun to see the guys turn a cable car round for its next adventure, take a minute to stop and watch and appreciate the art and finesse they have while doing it!
If its your first time in SF a ride on the cable cars is a must. However, plan to take your ride in the morning or the lines get too long.
Must do in sf! See them turn it and 'surf ' the hills of sf. Stand on the sides for the best experience
One of the most important spots in San Francisco downtown.. If you want to get on the cable car , it is better to do it from the stop after 2 blocks along Powell st. to skip the long waiting line
Take it to the top of Lombard . Line can get long but you can also buy it like a local at the nearby CVS and burger place
Find out if you can walk up a block to run away from the lines . Take the Powell-Hyde line , hop off on Lombard St and enjoy the amazing view .
If you want a ride on the trams , don't go near the turnaround points. Try a quieter stop, like Mason St & Greenwich St. You might even get a ride for free.
Don't wait in line at the turnaround like the other chumps. Walk up the street a block to O'Farrell. Shorter line and the cable car always picks up more passengers from there on the way up.
De onde sai o cable car pro Fisherman’s Wharf. A passagem custa $5 no cable car . Desça do bondinho quando o motorista anunciar “Lombard Street at your right”.
If you like old mechanical devices this is a must see. A manual turn-table. Take one of the Powell/Hyde cars to see Lombard St and Alcatraz from Russian Hill .
The ride is beautiful and if you're lucky, the staff might also tell you the story of the building you're passing by.
We just came early (8:00) in order to avoid the 100m line . Cable car is not a must do thing for itself but you would mind if you did not do;)
A must for tourists in SF. The line could be long but totally worth it.
A great shortcut to getting into Chinatown from Union Square especially when looking to avoid routes 30 and 45
Forget about driving, parking is not only expensive but hard to get. Get on BART and stop at Powell St.
If the line is long and you just want to ride, try the other route. It starts at California & Market .
Ride a cable car in San Francisco. When San Francisco constructed its cable car system 125 years ago, no one was trying to build a historic landmark or a tourist attraction
$7 from the start to fisherman's. Sit on the right side of the car for great views ;)
Know where you're going! Some research would be helpful...unless you want to get lost.
Worth it only to be able to say you've ridden the cable cars . It's packed, you'll have to wait a while, and the attendants are kind of rude.
A painful tourist trap. I recommend going to Embarcadero to head to Fisherman's Wharf, and THEN take the cable car back; typically less of a line ...enjoy!
Make sure you pay te weekly $27 unlimited pass, otherwise you will be payin $2 per ride, you can buy the pass at Wallgreens.
Take this one of a kind San Francisco ride from downtown all the way to Ghirardelli Square (and fill up on some chocolate )!
Exit BART here at the turnaround which is the starting/ ending point for the San Francisco cable cars which take you right to Fisherman's Wharf.
Tha cable car decomposed and we waited for 2 hours! Had to move and turn back at night
long line every day...you do have to be pacient and cable car operators are rude...but it's an unforgettable experience...
Come see the show of a lifetime at Westfield San Francisco Centre! We are rocking through the decades and celebrating the city in a free 3D light spectacular!
Waiting in line is worth it. Rides are $6 a person and cash only
Extremely long queue!
Great experience going along the hilly San Francisco downtown roads !
Renew Your monthly Clipper here instead of the SFMTA hell hole on Van Ness?!?...heck Yes!
Be prepared for a long line , but totally worth it!
Keep your camera close by for great photo opportunities in the hills of SF - great views of the Bay
It's slow as heck, but a must-do if it's your first trip to San Francisco.
Wait in a long line , and sing Tony Bennett in your head ("where little cable car / climb halfway to the stars")
Take the cable car at the 2nd station to avoid the queue
Watching the cable cars come and go is almost as fun as getting on one yourself!
Make sure to take the Hyde car . It's the one that stops at Lombard St .
Fascinating to watch the cable cars being turned
Really enjoy the view along the route!
7 US$ and so much fun! ????
Hop on on a later stop (one block down) to avoid the line
The line is very long! My advise: walk up the street and take it in the next stop
Be prepared for long lines on weekends. Much better to try to hop on at a popular cross street where many people are getting off.
If the queue is too long, walk up to the next stop and they will allow you to ride on without any waiting...
If you are standing, do not go in the side where the opposte cable car is coming, there little space, its scary.
Well , 7USD each way is way to expensive . If you have the San Francisco city card then go, otherelse....
