Designed in 1733. Named for Robert Johnson, Royal Governor of South Carolina when Georgia was founded. The 1st of 24 squares built. The statue is of General Nathanael Greene, a Revolutionary War hero.
Originally surrounded by Savannah's first 40 houses, in the early 20th century, this square started evolving into a skyscraper district. Note the 15 story office tower.www.architecturalsavannah.co
