Clara Barton dedicated her life to help others. Glen Echo was her home the last 15 years of her life & the structure illustrates her dedication & concern for others. Tours of the house are free & offered on the hour every day of the week from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm (last tour at 4:00 pm).

Clara Barton, the founder of the American Red Cross , lived here and this building was their first headquarters. In 1974 this place was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
