'The Jewel On U.' Restored, revived and ready to shine brighter than ever before.
1215 U St NW Washington , D.C. 20009 United States
Recently renovated, the Lincoln Theatre is a lovely space for performances that is convenient to Metro. It’s also next door to Ben’s, and the mural .
If for some reason you leave during the headliner, you may have to wait until the song break to go back to your seat. Be patient.
Great venue acoustically . Needs some TLC, but it's in good hands being managed by the 9:30 Club.
Beautiful intimate concert venue with a great history. And popcorn .
The Lincoln Logs on the second floor are even better than the 9:30 Club cupcakes (both made by the same bakery ).
Seating at most shows is GA, so if you want a good seat make sure you or a friend get there early.
On the National Registrar of Historic Places after hosting great African American performers such as Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Cab Calloway, Billie Holiday, and more.
Constructed as a first-run house for an African-American clientele in 1921. This was a signifcant collaboration between architects Reginald W. Geare and Harry Crandall.
Arrive here early, as the majority (if not all) shows are General Admission, first-come, first-served.
beautiful theatre . stellar sound quality. stadium seating ensures that everyone has a great view .
Gorgeous venue but beware that most of the balcony seats have ZERO stage visibility. Ended up standing in the back to see - others sat on the backs of their seats. Not cool.
Don't leave this gorgeous theater without eating a Lincoln log ! Big Mistake!
The section of U-Street btw 9th St. & 18th St. came to be known as "Black Broadway" thanks to numerous African-American owned establishments including banks , bowling alleys & dance halls in the 1920s.
Heard good things but the entire theater was closed due to a group using it for casting. I wanted to at least look in to the theater . A one-way window, perhaps?
Be warned, even at an all GA show- there are seats on the floor and the balcony . There is no standing room GA. Beautiful venue though.
Go upstairs and get popcorn for the show!
