This is the more popular coffee place (based on their expansion around the city ), so if you cant find Stone Creek, Alterra is probably going to be the next step. Again, skip the chains, try the locals
The 5th Ward Foundry is a sweet building with lots of hanging plants inside and awesome music . Wi-fi works best in back, but the music is loud back there. Free parking . Great coffee as usual.
The cold brew is NO JOKE strong... possibly the strongest I've ever drank. Cranberry pumpkin muffin has a great flavor and texture .
The good coffee you'd expect from this local chain, in a convenient location (near the lake and the Global Water Center), with friendly service that keeps this one my favorite.
Favorite MKE coffee . Bring in your own to-go mug for a discount ! Amazing breakfast sandwiches too. Local Yolk-el is bomb.com
This is such a cool cute coffee shop by the lakefront. Great coffee and I love the avocado blt .
Located in the 5th Ward with lots of tablets and outlets. Parking can be a little tough, especially in the morning. Tends to get very crowded . Internet is reliable and coffee is good.
A cup of coffee and a bacon biscuit sandwich will set you straight for the rest of the day.
Want something sweet but not too sweet? Then definitely try the chocolate croissant . It's to die for... Especially warmed.
Baked oatmeal is delicious! So are the cowboy cookies . And the white bean chili.....Well a lot of stuff is good here!
Great pour overs! The cappuccino chocolate covered almonds are a yummy treat too!
I'm a fan of there baguette sandwiches . Can't go wrong with a pastry either!
Get the coffee of the day- always delicious! Best breakfast sandwich is the Local Yolk-el; try it with pesto
Cappuccino , Cortado , and a $2.50 “Pop Pastry”!
The baked oatmeal with yogurt is the way to go!
Especially love the cheesy biscuit , though I'm sad the local yokel breakfast is gone.
Be warned this Alterra plays some industrial and thrash music (probably dependent upon staff ) which may not be conducive for work meetings.
This location, affectionately known as "The Foundry," is always packed...and for good reason. It's the darling of the Third Ward. Read more
Try the baked oatmeal ! While waiting, bring your company's site up on your phone. How does it look? Give Roll (across the street) a call - we can make it mobile-friendly.
If you have time to find parking , go to Starbucks. This Alterra messes up orders all the time, always has grounds in their coffee , and there is clearly a skills gap here.
The coffee is perfect & the food is wonderful.
Alterra opened its first café in 1993, and has since expanded to 12 locations serving its signature thick and creamy espresso .
The Black & White cookie has an intermittent interesting flavor. I am keeping a spreadsheet. Eat one. Tell me what you think.
Despite their name, they will not collect your old TIVOs. But they will make you some fantastic coffee .
Pretty sweet outside area. Nice to get work done and not deal with the busy lines @ alt by the lake .
If you bring in your own coffee mug they will give you a discount
Have a black and white cookie . Sometimes they taste and little like pickles , but even so, they're still good!
Baked oatmeal recommended. Nice sun exposure in the morning.
Sit around all day like a coffee poser on your macs. Don't worry, I can stand and eat, douches.
Check out their awesome shirts !!! Not just your average logo shirts :)
The potato bacon burrito is delicious. I also love their regular drip coffee , and normally I only drink Americanos .
Hoping to hit the Foundry before the morning rush. TCD's favorite Alterra - close to the office , with the greatest staff in the world. Read more
big star playing in here helps me ignore the egg shells in my quiche :)
Get like 3 things to eat, portions are tiny winnie, itty bitty…
Amazing apple cider for the fall. Do yourself a favor and order a large.
Remember to tip. Baristas are coffee geeks, but still have to pay the rent.
Turkey club with cheddar . The pesto mayo is I die for
Watch your head on those lamps.
Try the felafel! It's a vegetarian delight.
not all of the alterras have food, everything I've ever had here has been good. but I love their breakfast burritos. mmmm!
If you come early you should plan on getting here early.
The baked oatmeal is a must on a chilly winter morning, or any morning.
The grilled vegetable burrito is the best!
Highly recommend the mango peach ginger smoothie to revive on a hot afternoon. Yum.
Yumm!! The dijon chicken special sandwich is DELICIOUS!
Try bye baked oatmeal . #awesome
I can usually finish my food b4 the wifi log in pops up. What's the deal?
Good coffee , nice people, not very noisy or crowded .
Mint Mocha aka The Bullfrog at Alterra

Place serves mke beer and will be serving wine. Also has a stage for performances and plenty of space inside. Great location and the best coffee in Milwaukee. - Steve Haze
The Summer Sun is delicious and the atmosphere is super charming. I'll be stopping back whenever I'm in town! - Clare
