If you love wine , this is the place to be. Breakfast and lunch spot that turns into a wine bar at night. Very affordable and awesome!
Visit chef Jamie Kennedy at his Gilead Café for breakfast , brunch and lunch . He continues his focus on the local, innovative menus he’s known for. [Eater 38 Member]
Tucked away in an alley, this is a nice place for some good organic and locally farmed food. Only for lunch/brunch.
Jamie Kennedy's empire retreated a little bit during the economy's hard times, but this, a cafe and catering kitchen, remain a hidden gem seating only about 20.
This ain't just a desert shop, master chef and owner Jamie Kennedy is the only Canadian to receive the order of Canada for culinary arts EVER! There is always something new happening at gilead.
Nicely chosen selection of Ontario wines here and a 3oz. glass is nice when you have to go back to work. Also try the homemade Oreo !
Gilead Cafe is a must for lunchtime dining. The gist of it: local, fresh food . The location is easy to miss and does not bring in a lot of foot traffic, making it quiet . You gotta be in the know. Read more
Great brunch . Try the eggs Benny with a side of JK fries , and French toast to share. You can go to the gym later.
The J K fries are the closest thing to the Platonic idea of fries (AKA perfection)
Try the Quinoa And Black Bean With A Poached Egg - Fantastic citrus vinaigrette
Fantastic little nook off of King E. Try the croissant with JK jam .
Brunch on Sundays is divine. But busy--get there early or late. Open until 3 pm.
Try the black sausage with cooked apples and crispy puff pastry ! A comforting dish and combination of textures.
Menu is hard to read and ended up paying $17 for a 6oz glass of wine . I thought it was $8.75 but that was for the 3oz. I wish servers mentioned that their wine by the glass starts with a tasting size
Don’t be fooled by the fact that this is in an alley. Celebrity chef Jamie Kennedy makes incredible food here. Spaghetti is best.
Anything Jamie Kennedy does is fantastic in my books !! The fries and poutine are definitely the biggest draw.

Poutine . Must have!
My fave lunch spot by far. The Roasted Beet sandwich is fantastic. The bread pudding is also excellent.
Poutine is delicious, iced coffee is strong and well , Jamie Kennedy is hot!
The Home Made fries are the best I've had.
Great for takeout , too. Lots of great pre-packaged meals and snacks . Venue closes from about 330 to 5, for service.
Try: Vegetarian sandwich , brownie cookie , get some espresso beans to go
The narratives behind the food are absolutely as great as the food itself. This is easily one of Toronto's best experiences.
Had heard a lot about it, food was great but atmosphere was cold and not terribly friendly . Come on, you can do it! Don't buy too much into your own hype.
Order the French Toast ! It is amazing!!

Sunday brunch 10 am - 3 pm is superb.
Went for dinner , had a pretty Meh experience. Overpriced & tiny portions.. The poutine had barely any gravy or cheese , the best dish was the sautéed greens..
maybe one of the better burgers i've had but not consistent and servers are a bit snooty & have gotten order wrong more than once
the poutine is very popular and changes almos daily. the burge is divine
come for their weekly dinner experience and have the flight of wines
The Roast Galantine of Muskoka Chicken is divine!
Fries are finger-licking good!
the chocolate croissants and red fife bread loaves

International Award Winning Chocolate maker. I adore the Balsamic Vinegar truffle and the Pop Rocks Truffle is too fun. Their gelato is full of great Ontario flavours. - Joanna Sable
