Stirling Castle

Stirling Castle is one of the largest and most important castles in Scotland. It sits atop Castle Hill, an intrusive crag, which forms part of the Stirling Sill geological formation. It is surrounded on 3 sides by steep cliffs, giving it a strong defensive position

Beautiful! With some stunning interior spaces! Much more awesome than Edinburgh castle . There are some one hour guided free tours around the castle every 30 minutes and guides are really emotive!

Sampada Patel

Excellent visit. Tours every half hour last for an hour but well worth it. Make sure to do the Wall Walk where you walk along the wall to the cannons and then go down to see the kitchens.

Jack Thomson

A great place to learn about history, the audio guides are very good and I recommend them but I would not eat at the cafe because it is very expensive a ham and cheese bueguette is 7.50 on its own

Nathan Williams

This is a great castle with some great views . The building is really great and some great architecture . The staff were friendly and helpful. The history and displays well told.

I was pretty sceptical about the £14 entrance fee, but it is entirely worth it. It's a really well maintained castle . Lots to see and explore.

Andy Dunn

If you're a member of English Heritage you get in for free (50% discount if you've been a member for less than a year). Not advertised, I only found out when I asked at the ticket office ! £14 saved!

Koen Van Daele

Really interesting and well-cared for by Historic Scotland . Get there early to get a parking spot . Follow a guided tour and then explore to your heart's content.

Saud Alghizzi

Beautiful Sterling Castle . Magnificent history and a perfect view on Wallace Monument .

Joza Juarez

Very nice castle ! It's even better than the one in Edinburgh. Taking the audio guide with it to know very the place and hearing a nice story.

Ben Engen

One of the more iconic Scottish castles . The price of admission includes a short tour that makes it a worthwhile stop if you're in the area.

Theo John Auld Miller

Well worth a visit. This is from a second visit in a 3 year period. The guided tours are fascinating and must do in my recommendation.

Andy Dunn

The £3 for the audio guide is well worth the money if you're travelling alone. The history is acted out in an engaging way, especially so when in the Royal Palace .

MaryQueenofScots.net

James VI of Scotland was brought up here under the care of the Earl and Countess of Mar. His tutor, George Buchanan taught him that his mother, Mary Queen of Scots, had murdered her husband, Darnley

Your ticket gets u free into the House of Argyll , so go early to the Castle so you have enough time to visit the House thereafter.

Mary Queen of Scots spent most of her childhood at Stirling before travelling to France for her education in 1548. She was crowned Queen in the Chapel Royal on September 9, 1543.

Ivar Struthers

Lots of nooks and crannies to explore. So much to see. Guides are excellent. Simply a first-class place to visit.

If you have young children with you, take time to join the special children's tour . Very engaging guide who tells the tales of Stirling Castle in a way that kids relate to.

Solo Mascarenhas

Trisha Clay

Fantastic views . Great historic information on the castle .

Jason Plant

If you've got a family it can be expensive , was looking at £50 for 5 of us and didn't look to be a family ticket. Better views from Wallace monument just out of the centre.

Gisele Jaquenod

Fantastic castle with a lovely cafeteria :)

Anastasia Belozertseva

Might be fun to come with your kids, but I found this castle pretty overrated. There isn't a lot of history to read about, but the entrance fee is almost 15 euros.
