Suomenlinna 00190 Helsinki Finland
Take a ferry and spend a few hours on this historical fortress island . Cold and windy in the winter but still worth it to stroll through. Museums can be a hit or miss.
Great place: a fortress on a small island around 15 minutes far away of Helsinki. Go there with the ferry and walk around. Best view in the south of the island !
Great history. Very good example of a fortress island . UNESCO world heritage site . Be sure to visit the WWII submarine Vesikko and the lighthouse church as they're asking the few left in the world.
Best to come visit in summer but winter time gives another more rough, windy and silent atmosphere with little tourists
Quiet beautiful island . If you are in Helsinki for more than a day, don’t miss it. It is a short pleasant ferry ride from central Helsinki and the island has enough to occupy you for a few hours.
The trip out to the island is well worth it and a destination in itself. The island is pretty big and you can spend a good day here. We visited the military museum , where we had a guided tour .
Great outdoor museum ! Take the food basket from home because local cafes are expensive . Two-way ticket is €5 (from Helsinki).
Beautiful island , brilliant history and a fun little trip over in the ice breaker during winter. Note: during winter a lot of the restaurants are closed. If you can find a salmon soup , geddit!
A walk by the blue path and back is for a bit over one hour with occasional stops. Reserve more to just sit on a bench and look at wild geese. Would only recommend when the weather is good.
In summer is outstanding but in winter is magical! It's always windy so take a light jacket or a good winter coat.
Suomenlinna is the most beautiful island of Helsinki. You are together with nature and social life. There are lots of place for visiting.
Do yourself a favor, and go there early (take the 820am boat). Great time there — reserve min 2 hours. Take the blue path and stray apart sometimes. Get your own food, nothing is open before 1030am
This is a very nice place, perfect to stop by during your trip in this special island ! You feel like a home, with a nice and good soup and self service water and bread !
Simply the MUST in Helsinki, plan an entire day for the walks, coffees , walks, lunch and more walks. Regardless the weather in the city take a scarf and/or wind jacket .
Great island ...You have to see this island before leave. You can take awesome photos. It takes 15 mins with ferry and you only pay 5 euros if you do not have Helsinki Card.
beautiful & magical island full of historical site . Well managed and have nice walking path . Love the walk to The King's Gate.
I took my friend to Suomenlinna. He's been there many times before but never had walked all the way to Kustaanmiekka . He was amazed how great place it was! So walk all the way through! It's worth it!
One of the most beautiful place I've been to! The sunset over the Baltic Sea is incredible! Comparable with one on Santorini, not even sure which one I liked more. Landscapes like somewhere in Ireland
Picnic places all around the islands . Handicraft shops. Go to the walls at Kustaanmiekka at around 5.15pm to see a big cruise ship sail through the narrow strait between islands .
A great fortress with lots of place to walk and to look around, several museums a wonderful see sights.
Beautiful island ! Get a picnic and spend half a day. Loads of remote spots for a quiet picnic if you walk further down towards the small beach
Incredibly beautiful blending of natural landscapes, Finnish architecture , and military history. Well worth a trip on a sunny day
Pick up the guide brochure on the ferry or visitor center. It has a map, description of sights, cafés and restaurants , and opening hours.
an inhabited sea fortress built on six islands ; One of the most popular tourist attractions in Helsinki as well as a popular picnicking spot for the city 's inhabitants. Take a ferry ride there :)
During summer it is a great place to be! You can rest, visit a museum , make a picnic or visit a cafe .
Every day between 9 and 10 in the morning and 5 to 5:30 in the afternoon Helsinki - Stockholm ferries pass the Kustaanmiekka strait close to the King's gate.
quite windy in winters but still amazing.. might be even better in summers though. Dont miss the battlements.
It worths visiting especially when the weather is good!great for walks or even for a picnic
Suomenlinna is the only UNESCO World Heritage site around the Helsinki capital region. Come here for a lovely picnic and enjoy the picturesque surroundings.
Great for a walk, very pretty when sunny.
Unesco world heritage spot in front of the Helsinki. If you happend to be a paraglider pilot it's even possible to soar above the walls in right winds. Not for beginners.
A must-see for anyone visiting Helsinki. Beautiful views . ????
Very nice place and nature for a walking in the sun.
Great sea view , good for spending time with friends on fresh air . Not for visiting alone, too boring
No matter what time of the year, you should visit here!
Perfect palce to chill . If you love sea, you must go there.
Many things to see and large area to walk through. Especially shipyard
Great to spend an afternoon here exploring the fortress, enjoying the scenery and having a picnic by the sea (if the weather permits).
Go visit the museum , check the time schedule for the slideshow to see it. Highly recommended.
Island , fortes, cannons, sea, fresh air . Do you need anything more? .)
Come here when the sun is shining! It's most of the time outside, strolling along the island .
Peaceful island and nice place for a day trip.
Great for picnics or a day on the beach .
So much walking... but a really pretty island to visit.

Don't be affraid to go where your feet lead you, enjoy the luxury of wandering around! :)
Very touristy because it's very picturesque. The locals like to picnic up on the cliff.
Beautiful and interesting historical Island , recommend to visit.
