Good beginner hike , ~5.4 miles round trip. Popular. Free street parking , dog friendly (leashed), great view . Ocean & Catalina visible on clear days. Continue up to Inspiration Point for a longer hike .
Be sure to take in all the historical landmarks , including Mayor M, who seems to be here and all over the San Gabriel foothills every single morning at 4-5am. She's committed and gets around.

Streetlights arrived in LA in 1868, beginning the famous nighttime view . Go to Echo Mountain, the top of Muholland Drive, and Signal Hill for killer spots to see it all.
Nice views and interesting historic ruins from the old hotel and railway.
