Excellent acoustics in lovely concert hall . Truly a joy for classical music lovers.
Acoustics are good everywhere. View is best from Loge (expensive ) - best value seats are Center Terrace or Premier 1st Tier. They do sales pretty regularly so sign up for the e-mail list.
Afterward, go to doors at either end of lobby and take the stairs. It's not fancy , but metal evacuation stairs are the fastest way out to Grove or Van Ness. (It's fully allowed.)
Great views from various seats. I prefer the side terrace - nice and close to watch the players play! The organ concerts are worth checking out too!
The Terrace seats (behind the orchestra ) exceeded my expectations. Great being able to see the conductor's work up close!
Take a tour of the hall. Tours are offered for $5 every Monday (except holidays), every hour on the hour, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Just $3 for seniors & students. Call 415-552-8338.
Amazing production of On The Town , but avoid the house wine at all costs.
During intermission , check out the balcony on the top floor. Gorgeous view up & down Van Ness Ave at night.
Fabulous venue in downtown SF near City Hall . Consistently great performances . Parking one black away. Arrive Early.
Saw ET here with live soundtrack. Try catch one of there movie series. Well worth it
You can pre-order drinks (before the performance ) at the 1st and 2nd tier bar so they'll be waiting at a table for you during intermission .
E-13E-15 and E-17 are together seats. Odd numbers on the left and even numbers on the right
Ever wonder what those seats facing the conductor are like? Easy enough to check 'em out - they're only $15 and available for most concerts (if it's a choral work, the chorus uses the terrace ).
Side Terrace tix are the best (and often the cheapest!)
order your drinks for intermission BEFORE the concert starts, and they'll be waiting for you at a table. Then you can people watch to your heart's content.
One of the best venues here in San Francisco when you're looking for a place to enjoy classical symphonic music
Will you please, at the very least, wear a nice pair of pants, dress shoes , and a button-up shirt , for F** sake, when going to the symphony. It's bad enough we see tank tops and shorts at the Orpheum. Read more
Beautiful venue. Saw Fidelio here and it was very nice. Even the cheapest seats had a good view .
I really liked the oak smell in the hall, not sure if it is done on purpose or it is naturally coming from the furniture in the hall
Be sure to check out the outdoor balconies on the upper floor for exceptional city scapes.
Shop the SF Symphony store for a good selection of music , books , gifts and special items you won't find anywhere else. Plus, the complete SF Symphony Mahler cycle is available here. Now open M-F 11-4. Read more
The acoustics are not on par with the best concert halls in the world. It's a shame that such a good orchestra has a mediocre hall.
Pre-order food & beverage online for pre-show or intermission ! http://bit.ly/SquareAtDavies
Terrace seats are great for programs that don't feature soloists. Otherwise, sit in the main theater , as you won't be able to hear the solo.
Wear semi/formal/casual but breathable clothing , as it may get relatively warm inside.
Tickets start as low as $25 for amazing performances .
Look for parking on the street first before paying. Often there are spots in this neighborhood at night.
Order your drinks before the concert starts. Or, book to the bar once the lights come up at intermission .
Every seat is a great seat. Only bummer is nothing but water allowed at your seat.
Unbelievably great acoustics . Defs try to get centre seats!
Go for tickets in the second tier. They are great seats and it's a heck of a stair work out to get all the way up there.
