Reserve moreless 3hrs for a standart trip, exercise your legs before - there are >700 steps to take; ask about new types of trips - a special one for kids or a longer one for real salt miners (age 7+)
A salt mine with exhibitions showing how the work was done. Guided tours only. Good for families with kids or for school classes . There is also a church carved in the salt. You will be impressed:-)
The mine is hundreds of metres deep. If you do the tour , you go 135m underground... All by stairs. Not for the old or faint hearted. You return by a miners lift that goes 3 metres a second though.
Take the train from Kraków Głowny to Wieliczka Rynek-Kopalnia to get here. Costs around £17 to get in and tours in many languages, takes around 2.5 hours for the tourist route . Extra 10zł for cameras .
Absolutely amazing place! Some of the displays are a bit naff but overall, so beautiful and strange. The underground chapels are impressive & beautiful. 10zl for a photo license though.
This place is used to run visitor tours , weddings, private corporate gatherings and events . It is a gold mine if you ask me!! Don't miss out visiting the graduation tower right next door.
Just fascinating! On our tour of 2 hours, we only covered 1% of this huge place, and my god, it was sight to see. A must when in Krakow.
Keep walking and count at least several hours for the visit of this amazing place. Opt for the long tour that also include the visit of the museum , it is worth it
You actually can see a dragon inside (built for kids of course) but as an adult you still get that "GoT/LotR" chills everywhere and especially at the lake and this place ⬇️
30 minute drive east of krakow. UNESCO heritage site . About 800 steps down underground and a 2-3km walk. Elevator ride back up. Amazingly entertaining
This is a really interesting place - so much craftsmanship , it's impressive! Only issue is, the tour is slightly too long, it's a bit drawn out. There is also only 1 small lift to get everyone out!
A must-see when around Cracow. Prices in shops are high so make sure u have snacks and beverages with you. Lick the walls , haha! Definitely nice to visit
Don't expect to wear a hardhat and explore while miners are at work. This is more of a family experience with sculptures , underground lakes and caves , and light shows. Elevators are available.
Must see in Krakow! I cant believe how they made those things even without light. Tours are great, takes a few hours better get stuff to eat or drink with you.
This is a top must see local attraction ! Better to schedule a tour in the morning. Pack a bottle of water to be prepared to walk & climb down stairs for a few stories.
Two guided tour options - regular tour & "miner experience". Do check schedules online. Wear comfy shoes as there's about 3km of walking. Photo pass costs an extra 10zl if you're in it for the Insta.
Spread over nine levels, it has 300 km of galleries with works of art , altars, and statues sculpted in the salt, making a fascinating pilgrimage into the past of a major industrial undertaking.
Sure, tourist route is nice and all. But miner's route is too extreme to pass on! You get miner's overalls, a helmet and a lamp and you descend down corridors to learn mining from a pro. A must-see!
Interesting tour , costs 64 pln for foreign students, takes around 2 hours for the tour and one hour for the museum if you want to continue after the tour . 10 additional pln for photos and videos
Great experience. The magnitude of it all is hard to fathom. Take your time, but get into tour group. Navigating this on your own would be daunting challenge.
It's quite nice but I was expecting to be more interesting...The chapels made by salt is the most amazing thing to see...
This tour isn't for people who easily faint or have weak muscles (to enter mine you have to climb down a lot). I'm twenty and my legs were shaking for a half of hour afterwards (but it was worth it).
Unesco heritage place. Tourist route is about 2.5h with a guide. You have to walk downstairs and it's cool, the miner elevator will lift you up then.
An incredible experience to visit a salt mine. Definitely a great cardio workout and very well organised!
Great place to learn about salt mining in Poland, see amazing sculptures made out of salt and buy some salt souvenirs. Miners' route is a must!
Amazing place to visite, definitely a must when you're in Krakau. Very good guide and atmosphere. We went with SeeKrakow, pickup at hotel and everything was well organized .
Taste the walls ! (no joke)Also it gets a little windy underground, so if you're not used to cold weather I suggest having a light jacket or pashmina for the ladies.
You should go here with a guide, he will explain everything. Don't forget to lick the walls !!
Every brick, tile, chandelier or statue is made of salt...about 2.5-3 hours long route. Unique scenery but those crowds of people got on my nerves...
A great historical salt mine with several routes. You spend underground for couple of hours with great pleasure and interest to the story
Tourist route is a good option for newbies who want to learn history; miner's route is good if want to dress up and do a bit of mining yourself.
Well preserved salt mine with a private tour guide. Nice and cool in summer, about 13-14'C at the deepest levels so bring a light jacket if need be. Plenty of toilet stops.
If you are foreign tourists you gotta wait until enough people to be a group..could be a large group..but anything is worthy ! Just amazing place!
Miners have built all this (with no actual knowledge except vision & hard work) because they didn't know if they will come out at surface alive. It gives a tragic but beautiful note to everything.
Although a bit "to tourist see", is still a place that needs to be visited once. The Cathedral is beautifull. And don't forget to visit the museum at the end (a lot of people don't do it).
The first mine I ever visited. It was very interesting and unusual. Despite the fact that excursion takes about 3 hours. Must see.
It's worth a visit, no doubt about it! Preferably during winter, or months with lower affluence, so they can show you the ''lights' dance " in the cathedral . It's not done when there's too many people
Must visit in Kraków. Very beautiful and interesting tour . Lots of walking underground though - don't bring children.
Don't be discouraged by the crowd at the entrance, you will enter the mine in 45min max! The mine is unreal and it's a must see!
Long interesting tour with pretty 3D movie at the end. Foreign language tour is almost twice expensive than polish ftw
I have put my sticker (allowing me to 📸) on my bag instead of jacket and a lady stopped me and asked to see it because I was taking photos of church from above. So maybe buy it, it's cheap at least.
Everything is made from salt from the floor up to the sealing including the chandeliers !
It is an impressive mine. Guided tour only. You walk a long distance down and in the mine. Then to go up the walk, in groups, to the elevator is 2km long, beware.
You pay for tour companies to take you there, then you have to wait for the reps to fight it out in line . Be wary! (Great tour though, do it!)
The tickets aren't cheap and the place gets crowded , but the site is definitely a must-see. Book online and get there early!
If you want to take the bus to Wieliczka, buy a return ticket or 24 hour ticket while in krakow to avoid hassle. There are no ticket machines in Wieliczka.
It was a new experience for me so I enjoyed it.
Every body should visit this kind of place, but take comfy shoes - it's a long walk.
Guided tour is great, a lot of historical notes and jokes. Some halls are really fascinating!
Pretty interesting tour , although 2 hours was probably a little too long. Unfortunately we had a particularly monotonous guide, but we passed some other very dynamic guides in general. Worth seeing
Beautiful place it's worth going to the mine only to see the art in this chamber - Artur Jabłoński
Nice experiance! - Benny Van den Abeele
Nice place with lot of green territory and a playground. - Melinda K
A really great place, the best mall I've been to. Awesome place to spend an evening. - Al Jey
