Buena Vista’s founder, Count Agoston Haraszthy, arrived in Sonoma County in the 1850s and planted some of the state’s first European varietals , laying the foundation for the Buena Vista Winery .
Great tour (history, good wines , and excellent service). The decoration is a little hipster for my taste but adds a great personality to the winery .
Wine tasting is currently $20 per person for the non reserve , not $10 like others tips. Still a good value for $20, as the wines are pretty good.
The new french owner destroyed the old California vegetation and feel of this winery . This was a true national historic site . He installed phoney glitz and destroyed history. Sad
One of the oldest vineyards around. Be sure to go when they have a wine sale. You can get great bottles of wine for $5 to $15!
One of my fav wineries in Sonoma. Becoming a member is worth it.
The oldest winery and the first one in California! Founded 1854 and ground zero for the wine industry! Wonderful tasting here.
The Dijon clones Chardonnay is the best I've found in either Sonoma or Napa and merits a stop all on it's own, but it's only periodically available.
Tome for the experience, stay for the wine . The Sheriff might be the best red blend in Sonoma.
Great Winery ! First Winery in California and has been recently renovated. Very nice experience
(While exploring rum interests in Nicaragua, legend has it that Count Haraszthy perished crossing a crocodile-infested river .) Cheers!
Their brand new wine cave should be opening soon, it's pretty incredible in there!
Go for a tasting. But a bottle and sit on the patio .
Looking for a fun wine tour ? Try the Original Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley! 6 hrs, 4 wineries and catered lunch = $99! Call 877-Wine-Trolley!
Swan Selection Pinot Noir and the Dijon Pinot Noir are awesome! Take a peek at some of the Library Wine Selections too!
The count aka George was a treat! Request him for your next tour .
Talk to The Count . He knows his varietals and vine stalks.
We went on a weekday. It had a nice and relaxed atmosphere .
Wonderful pinot noir from 2004.
Our server was awesome, but while we were purchasing wines , some guy came and told her to go wait on another party. She said she had to finish w/ us, but he said they were "important." What a douche.
Interesting history (although the founder sounds like he was a bent as a 4 dollar bill!), but pretty average wine . Over priced. You're paying for the landscaping.
Awesome winery that sits on a hill overlooking the valley.
Take a tour and check out the wine caves
Make sure to explore the caves . They're nice and cool.
Buy the sherry , ask for Beatrice
The guy was really nice. We only got 5. No extras.
See Millie, she's the best! Great history here
Super long walk when you want wine now!
Come visit and do a taste and tour with The Count !
A little too curated for me
Worth the walk!
Apparently black people don't have green money..After a wine tasting , I was ignored for an extended period of time. I was about to place an order but decided to leave due this awful treatment.
Perfect placê for a pic nic.
Nice place for a picnic . That's the only nice thing. Bad Chardonnay , very rude service.
We weren't IMPORTANT.
$10 tasting is pretty good and at least some of their hosts are nice- even on a busy Sunday we were not neglected.
Meio no estilo wild west, o tour sai por $25, mas vale a pena.
Informative.
Great private tasting room of sparkling wines and champagnes for wine club members of Buena Vista and Boisset Wine Collection. - Benjamin Reyes
Gorgeous outdoor seating and delicious sparkling wines. Don't miss the Sonoma brut. The blanc de Blancs is fantastic, too. - Melon L
Their Reserve is awesome. Must stop, family business since the 1800's - Renny Itwaru
Like a dream location . Rolling vineyards , amazing wine , sunset vistas and in the middle of rural Californian countryside . Romantic location if ever there was . - James Pimentel-Pinto
Absolutely love the relaxed atmosphere here. Designates tasting recommended (won't find these in stores) and definitely try the moscato if you like a sweeter chilled dessert wine. - Kristin
Let Tom find a wine for you. The meatballs and ribs are awesome! Also, the hammer breakfast sammy/thing is great. - Karl Mattson
