Huge, ornate theater with tons of room at the seats, great movies . Go see an indie flick and grab a beer .
I dig this theater. Great snack options. I went to a viewing of Under the Cherry Moon which was directed by Prince. The theater made the experience awesome. Love that movie though.

Thinking Sundance, not sequels? AFI Silver's your best bet. A real learning experience. And DC Caribbean FilmFest has been hosted here for the past few years - during Caribbean Heritage Month in June.
The original Silver Theatre was designed by John Eberson and constructed in 1938. Restoration and expansion were completed in 2003.
The original theater (Theater 1) is the greatest place to see a film in the DC area.
The seats aren’t comfortable for long films .
The beer & wine selection is surprisingly good.

Me and my wife like this theater a lot.
Great theater, awesome audio and picture.
Like most other theaters, concessions is way overpriced. At $1.75 + $4 a cup of tea and small popcorn is the cheapest "meal deal " and satisfies my need to accompany movie viewing w. noshing .
12 years a Slave, 5 stars! (don't forget the tissues)
Has a small exhibit/museum section.
Hot dogs are supposedly Nathan's which made me excited... only to find out they're microwaved. :( Nice place for a movie though!
If you get a chance to see a film in Theater 1, take it!
There's beer at the concessions here- sit in the way back for the most comfort...
