Brooklyn Native is so so good, and I'm not even a herring fan . No need to go to Manhattan . Not stupid busy. Great gatsby was very good but the mustard was a little too sweet. Must visit.

The Brooklyn Native is a great twist on the morning bagel . Whitefish spread, smoked salmon , pickles and pickled herring . Grab it on a bialy - refreshing and not overly filling.

Get the Tuna Pan Bagnat. It's red leaf lettuce, sliced tomato , Kalamata olives , hard-boiled egg , anchovies , and Spanish tuna . One caveat: Only six are available on Saturdays and Sundays.

Member of the tripe with everything bagel was spectacular- it was simple and silky beauty- good for a first time taster . Yum!!!

People who work here are legends. Sandwiches are not to be missed. Come loaded with fish and other delicious goodness. Highly recommend the Brooklyn Transplant, Member of the Tribe and Great Gatsby.

The Peter Shelsky has Gaspe Nova, Sable, and Pickled Herring. It's absolutely delicious.

Everything here is excellent, but I particularly love whitefish salad , horseradish cream cheese , and tomato on pumpernickel . Then some herring with cream and onions on the side.

Run by an old friend shelskys is a total throwback. Peter's tasteful and tasty selection of smoked salmons , herrings and all the essentials (bagels bialys cream cheeses ) to go with. Do stop in.

Member of the tribe sandwich is the way to go. This place feels like Russ and daughters opened up in Bk. Great smoked fish , halvah, dried fruit , etc. Good spot.

The Great Gatsby: David Burke pastrami cured salmon , honey mustard , horseradish cream cheese and red onion on Caraway seeded rye . Divine.

White fish salad .... I salivate thinking about it. All the smoked salmon is amazing. Fresh, delicious. Just buy more than you think you will need.

Peter knows his fish ! A true connoisseur and a chef . They have the best smoked whitefish salad on the east coast. This place should not be missed!!!!

For non-loxers like myself, they still have some of the best bagels and most unique smears (horseradish , goat , jalapeño ). So don't let the name scare ya!

Don't leave without trying the David Burke pastrami salmon . Put it on a bagel with a horseradish smear and other fixings and you won't be dissapointed!

Great smoked salmon . Lots of pressure to get 1/2 rather than 1/4 lb. of everything. Bagels are not amazing but salmon and whitefish are.

The Great Gatsby is my go-to. Maple cured salmon + cream cheese and red onions is a great and filling combo.

I grew up eating Russ & Daughters' and Barney Greengrass' smoked fish . Shelsky's is the real deal. Aquavit & dill , house cured gravlox is like buttah.

Russ & Daughters-style smoked fish and appetizing meets 2011 Brooklyn. All the smoked fish and bagel sandwiches are awesome, and the baked salmon salad would make your rebbi smile.

Have a proper everything bagel—the type that also has the sesame seeds , poppy seeds , and salt on both sides.

The gluten free bagels here may be small but I've found none better at any size elsewhere
