California Memorial Stadium

This football stadium , built in 1923, is home to the University of California Golden Bears . The University of California announced a fundraising campaign in 1921 to fund a new stadium in Berkeley.

Plan to reach hours in advance on a big game day . Traffic on the roads near the stadium is very heavy (google maps lies). Also, getting into the stadium and getting to your seat will take very long.

This stadium underwent a serious $321 million renovation in 2011. Bear fans now have a new press box , wider concourses, and more concession stands.

Arrive early, stay for halftime, and stick around for post-game to see the band. The Cal Band is one of the best college marching bands out there.

Fun college football venue. Can be a bit tricky to navigate because the concourse does not wrap completely around the stadium (it’s built into a hill ).

On game day , get there early to watch the marching band 's pregame show! Also a great view of the bay if you can get into the press box

The California Golden Bears defeated the Stanford Cardinals on a last-second touchdown to win 25-20 on 11/20/82. The Stanford band was already out on the field celebrating when this play occurred.
