The fair is neat, but check out the fairgrounds throughout the year. Oktoberfest, comic conventions , roller derby with the North Star Roller Girls, and more fun events !

Holy Land deli has a great Mediterranean lemonade . Minty , slushy and sweet-tart. So good on hot hot days. Well worth the price.

itinerary for parents with a toddler: ride the carousel on the kidway, visit the butterfly house, pet baby animals at miracle of birth, buy inflatable pony to stop the whining, head home for nap time

Their food is amazing. Their grandstand is HUGE! Everyone is always so nice and smiley! Love it!

One of the largest fairs in the country - definitely a must if you're in town at the end of August!

Come get a Reuben Dog or some Leprechaun Legs on the SW corner of Dan Patch and Cosgrove, immediately inside from the main fair entrance on Snelling Avenue! There's also 18 different kinds of beer !

I love how many varieties of beers there are! Cleaner than the Iowa state fair .

Try the cheese on a stick! It's like a corn dog but cheese instead of meat. My fav thing at the fair !

Check out the Minnesota State Fair for the two week long great Minnesota get together! Bus rides are provided to and from the fair , picking up right behind the Days Hotel on University !

Try the lobster roll !! Amazing! And the Korean beef at Famous Dave's! And of course you must get a bucket of Sweet Matha's cookies !

State Fair Drinking Game: take a drink every time you see someone stop on Judson to take a photo of the crowds.

Get to the Fair before 8am. No crowds, it's cooler, & you can enjoy a Blue Barn breakfast .

Wayyyyyyyy to many people when I went couldn't do anything. Crowd surfed stood in long lines all day pretty much it.

Looking for your Uber during the fair ? Head toward gate 2 or gate 16 to meet your driver. Look for the signs the read 'App-based Ride Services'.

Cheese curds , malts , corn on the cob, shows at the Grandstand , and cold beer !

Get the waffle ice cream sandwich ! Add a bit of Nutella for good measure

The Sweet Martha's booth off Carnes Ave now has serving windows on the side of the building! More servers = less wait time (hopefully)

Alligator nuggets have been tradition, Their great! And no its NOT like chicken . Its better :)

The Deep Fried Ribs at Ballpark Cafe are worth checking out.

I wish I had just gotten 8 things of sweet corn . Having to wait another year for the world's most perfect sweet corn is evil.
