In this Communist-themed bar you'll find dimmed lights and a friendly Barman with excellent taste in music (the mission and my bloody valentine among the others)! Well worth a visit if you're in NYC
You come here for Russian beer right? It's the Baltika ! Get the #9 if you are feeling brave, it's the best!
Former commie hangout hosts free readings with budding wordsmiths. Recommend Fantastic Fiction where notables Joyce Carol Oates and Jack Ketchum have appeared, and the weekly Sunday Night Fiction .
A fairly young institution, KGB Bar opened in 1993 and has since been a staple in the NYC reading series circuit, heavy on cheap drinks and literati. Check out fiction on Sunday or poetry on Monday.
I love this bar . It's on the 2nd floor don't confuse the entrance with the theater on the 1st floor (I did that)
Incredible place hidden in the east village , and the guy likes new wave and noise music , so it's perfect!
Voted best first-date place for drinks on a Saturday night in the East Village/ Lower East Side. Small and quirky, and quiet enough to have a conversation
Cozy theme bar that would make Lenin blush…in a good way. Check out the neat propaganda posters.
Can't go wrong coming in here. Drink prices are fair . Come for good poetry readings.
You don't order a Grey Goose in a Russian bar (said the small girl who learned the hard way)!
The name says it all. Once you are inside, go upstairs to find the bar .
Gloriously divey. KGB attracts a diverse crowd of drunk people, and skews slightly older and surlier.
There's a bar on top that is more classy and loungey. Very cool.
We stayed till 1 am on a Wednesday and they bought us a round :)
Interesting decor. Definitely more of an intimate date spot
Music is what makes this place special
Came back after 10 years and still the same awesome place. Erik is still the best!
Order Baltika , enjoy Baltika , repeat.
Fun vibe. The drinks are ok.
Good times! Drinks are super strong :)
KGB = dive bar - loud music + Soviet paraphernalia.
Get some h20. One of the A/Cs is not working. Their advice? Take off ur shirt !
Cozy atmosphere
Booze is great. Atmosphere is rad
Its a nice homey little bar . Get the Baltikaa Beer , most bang for your buck.
If this place were a person, I'd have sex with it.
Crazy Monday night spot!
Go for the Sunday night fiction readings!
Eah. Does the theme well .
Russian beer
Drink the Russian beet
Take a date here for a covert meet-up. Nostrovia!
Well priced liquor if that's your thing
Poem readings
Baltika Extra is a boozy bargain!
Went well .
Kick ass staff , go late though...like reaaaaally late, when the crowd is gone.
Try to count the urinal cakes in the bathroom...You'll be there a while.
get the Brooklyn. vintage may 2009 is excellent
it gets reaaaal warm in there
Feels like a Communist when I'm here. Uh-oh parents wouldn't like that, would they...?
Hah, communist . KGB reminds me of Rounders.
Να εδω στις τουαλέτες μου τον είχε γυαλισει μια γκαρσονα. Μπάνιο το μωρό

Great atmosphere, fun staff, good sliders, great sweet potato fries! - Christopher Freda
Great spot for a boozy time. Nawlins atmosphere, eclectic music and late night snacks. Try the pork dumplings and butterfly shrimp. They've got a pool table in the back. - Dan Lam
A small, hole-in-the-wall theatre with an awesome taste for improv. Warning: sitting in the front row? You're asking for it! - Eric Zigler
Pierogies are amazing, great place to go after drinking in the village for a snack. Good for dinner too - Jonah Eaton
About a quarter of the show changes each week, so after about a month or so it's a completely different show. If you don't see it this week, then you'll miss this version of the show forever! - David D.
