This is a cute one-screen cinema which has a really retro feel (down to the pre-movie reminders!) makes you feel like you should go to a diner and order a milkshake +fries afterwards
The Avon's charming size and feel complements the films they show. Seats are narrow compared to newer theaters and there are no cup holders to hold beverages. Watch your step entering the rows!
Love this theater! Great to see indie movies here before they get to bigger theaters. If you love historical theaters, you'll love it here. Find parking early!
Amazing selection of independent films , right here on Thayer St!! These movies give your mind something to chew on for quite some time

Absolute vintage perfection- only $8 for a ticket and not a bad seat in the house.
As a frequent patron of the cinema , I have been to many theaters. None equal to the promise of class and charm I get from Avon.

Much Ado About Nothing was great! The Avon is the place to be on a beastly hot Sunday afternoon
Cute little theatre. Nice sound, small screen but just fine for the kind of movies they play. I loved it!
Catch up on the latest independent and foreign films , perfect for unwinding after a hard day’s studying.
This place is great its like stepping back into the 1940's ( well , without the war stuff lol)
Absolute vintage perfection.
No fountain soda and only small bottles of soda . Smuggle in bigger and better, if necessary.
Go to Avon Cinema while on the East Side!
My go-to theater in Providence. Wide array of mainstream films and indie movies, as well as special re-releases and events. The bar is a little expensive but that's to be expected at these theaters. - Nick Rojas
Cuban Revolution before the play! Quick service and good food. Tell them you're going to the play and they get you out ASAP - Fuzzy Dunlop
Try the cucumber mojito. Very refreshing. Love their Greek salads. ???????? - Jason Baughman-Oprică
This is a fantastic spot for tasty, vegetarian, Middle Eastern eats! Get the falafel wrap. - Kaustubh Thirumalai
Great pizza spot right on Thayer. Get yourself two slices for lunch or a late night out and you'll enjoy it! - Nick Rojas
