Spacious & comfortable real ale & craft bar near the law courts, town hall & LGI. A less extensive beer range than some other Market Town Taverns, but still ok for a drink after work or before a gig.

Great ale and gin selection . Definitely one of my favourites. Close to uni, but far enough to have no undergraduates clog up the place.

Try the Mary Jane beer . Usually a few excellent beers to choose from and not too pricey .

Nice decent pub meals and friendly staff .

Wensleydale and Leek Sausages to die for. Absolutely gorgeous food.

If you like cider they usually have a guest cider barrel on the bar , can be a potent one though

Thwaites are an amazing brewery . Pick up an ale from them here if you can.

Try Brooklyn Brewery 's Black Chocolate Stout . Powerful, but incredible.

Aircon very welcome on a hot day.
