Make sure you climb up to the wall and the watch towers, the view on a clear day is superb. I also got engaged there so, it has a very special meaning for me.

Dave Milne

The city ’s main tourist attraction , including the Magna Carta & extensive views from the walls . The Victorian gaol also comes to life during holiday periods with actors playing the roles of prisoners .

Carl Griffin

Home to one of the original Magna Carta copies . The prison tour is interesting, especially the convict boxes in the chapel.

Great day out get the joint ticket with cathedral to save money we liked the lights fighting it only about 30 mins long and only 2 knights but good display and information

Good wall walk with good views , COVID restrictions in place , wanted to know more history behind the castle

Nas Jackson

We imagined a good day out but were faced with a man who threw a box of frogs on us whilst screaming the phrase "BEETS FOR SALE". We felt it was uncalled for but went home beet happy

Built during the late 11th century, the castle is unusual in that it has two mottes. It is only one of two such castles in the country , the other being at Lewes in Sussex.
