The Staff are superb, the surroundings are pleasant and the Guinness is outstanding!
It was made famous by its appearance in Chapter 8 of James Joyce 's novel Ulysses . The main character Leopold Bloom , stops at just before 2 pm for a gorgonzola cheese sandwich and a glass of burgundy .
Very helpful friendly staff , lovely atmosphere. Very good food. Love their Wine of the Month offers. Definite must visit for foreigners & locals alike! ????????????
This place felt like a French bistro . The fish and chips tasted fresh and the cocktails were very good
They’ve got a wine of the month club, so maybe Leopold Bloom was onto something ordering a Burgundy here.
Famous literary bar . James Joyce drank here. Only drank here so I cant comment about the food. Nice place to have beers with friends.
The live music on Sunday eve it just fantastic. The staff is so friendly
Much better if you can get a seat up at the front door for a bit of atmosphere. Go down the back if you want a quieter spot.
Lovely bar , good drinks and food.
Friendly service . Small but there is a side room and outdoor seating .
Traditional Irish stew is great
Ulysses , by James Joyce : Would you like a gorgonzola cheese sandwich and a glass of burgundy ? Leopold Bloom would.
James Joyce was here! Great pub with good food, drink and service. Great history and atmosphere
Great food
Irish stew is nice!
Have the Oysters and Guinness !
Bon accueil. La terrasse est bien pour prendre un café et lire un livre. Le café est un peu coûteux.
Soup, Sandwich, Tea & Coffee €8.50. A tasty Lunch and price. Pilsner Urquell Czech beer on tap! - Gerard Garland
Great beef and everything else is great as well. Get there early before a match or make a booking. Good beers and decent wine selection. - Paul Farrell
We had one traditional Irish stew and one lamb shank. Both was great. Good ambience too with real locals. Delighted to find out that this is one of the older pub in town where writers used to meet. - Yilin Z
Great atmosphere. Whether it is Christmas time and warm inside or those long summer evenings and pints outside it is always a good session. Nice staff and a real mix of folks. Beautiful bar too. - Paul Farrell
High end shopping district. Keep an eye out for a few small coffee shops and restaurants off the main drag. - L K
