It's worth the 16 pounds to climb to the top. But the first sign.. 257 steps.. Is not to the top.. Just to the first level. Be prepared for a hike to make it all the way up.

Forget the London Eye. Make the climb up 500 plus steps for a wonderful view of the area. Exercise plus history = FTW. Unfortunately no photography in this amazing Cathedral .

As in the previous film , the spiral stairs in the South-West tower are used in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) as the pupils leave Prof. Moody's class .

Lee Hart

A beautiful cathedral only second in size to St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City . A walk to the top of the dome is not for someone with a fear of heights but amazing once you are up there.

Nicole Mills

Seat of the Anglican Bishop of London. Definitely worth a tour . Resting place of many famous historical figures. Take the 259 steps to the Whispering Gallery or the 528 to the top for the views .

Chris F

The cathedral is one of the most famous and recognisable sights of London. Grab a coffee and sit and enjoy the view . Breath taking.

Carl Griffin

The world's second largest cathedral . Designed by Sir Christopher Wren after the great fire of London. The crypt contains the tombs of Nelson, Wellington and Kitchener.

The spiral staircase in the South-West tower featured in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) as the stairs in Hogwart's where Harry finds a crystal ball and returns it to Prof. Trelawney.

Matt Short

Well worth a visit and the view from the top is amazing. You may find it hard to see where you get up to the dome but its on the right just after you come in the front doors.

The stairs in the South-West tower appear in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009) as Harry casually observes Draco Malfoy climb the stairs on his way to the Room of Requirement.

Richard Barker

Walking to the top of dome is possible. Steep stairs. It gets very narrow and cramped. The view at the top is amazing.

Beautiful place. I did the self guided tour with the headset. If you're physically up for it, I recommend climbing the 528 steps to the top of the dome. Not easy, but well worth the views .

From the Guardian: Geometrical staircase and Library . It swirls in two great revolutions up to the Cathedral Library , which is a veritable time capsule, untouched since its completion 300 years ago.

Jhony Marquete

If you don't have time to walk up the stairs to the dome, make sure at least that you walk around the church . The backyard has far more less fought over benches and great angles to take pictures.

Karen

Just an absolutely gorgeous cathedral designed by Sir Christopher Wren . Stunning to just see it from the outside. The statue of Queen Victoria in front is beautiful.

Alia Alsharif

It was good no pictures inside if you so tired read the booklet don't go to tops if you can't climb stairs if you want to see the view of London then go ahead good luck with legs pain

Ines González

The best cathedral , so beatufil and if you want to go up have nice views . They give you an audioguide free with the entry if you want.

Robert Accettura

It's a lot of steps but a fantastic view . Highly recommend the climb . But don't forget to visit the crypt downstairs too!

Get your most comfortable shoes and do some stretching, because there are a LOT of steps up to the top.

Instead of taking the London Eye, go to St Paul's, see the magnificent cathedral , climb the tower and enjoy a great view of London from above.

Corey Dutson

The view from the top is amazing, well worth the climb . I also suggest donating your entry fee (costs the same). You get free access to the church for a year. If you're planning on going more than onc

If you're going to pay 18 pounds to go inside a cathedral , let it be at St. Paul's. Breathtaking architecture combined with an amazing view of london if you climb the steps.

Rachel Mercer

If you come on a Sunday, you can get into the entryway for free just for the view , though you can't disturb the service. Crypts/Dome are not open though, so if that's a must come back a different day!

In the first act of Sherlock Holmes (2009), the titular character crosses the steps of St Paul's and then incapacitates the first henchman in the spiral stairwell of the cathedral 's North tower.

From the observation platform on top the dome of the cathedral , you can see the modern skyline of London. In the Whispering Gallery you can hear a whisper on the other side of the dome, 112 feet away.
