Upper Thomson Road Singapore
Car and main entrance is by Upper Thomson Road . 2 trail entrances along Old Upper Thomson Road . Nice park . About 1 hour plus to go round. Hilly. Interesting ruins of former Hainanese village
Remains of the cement steps leading down to Han Wai Toon's farmhouse . Along Rambutan Trail , northwest corner of park , near carparkI. Famous for sweet succulent rambutans, sold at the garden 's gate
Came across 3 types of trail surfaces. A) Tarred (presumably for service vehicles). B & C are concrete mixed with crushed granite — course or fine; these are laid along the minor trails
Walking difficulty level: Easy. Trails mainly flat, with occasional gentle slopes . No trekking shoes required, just one with good grip especially early morning or after rain when it could be slippery
Thomson Nature Park is for walking and hiking only. No bicycles. No PMDs.
Nature park built on the site of an abandoned Hainanese village - lots of historical and natural interest, and very peaceful . Highly recommended!
Carpark. Entrance is along Upp Thomson Rd, before the speed cameras . Drive too fast & you may miss it (and get snapped!)
Trail and ruins of a Hainan village . Hilly. Somewhat shaded.
NParks advices visitors to leave wheels behind as u use the walking-only trails . Many parts are even unsuitable for baby strollers
There are no shelters or seats along the trails . Those, together with toilets , can only be found at the visitor centre (main entrance )
Although Hainan Village was cleared in 1980s, expect to find remnants of the settlement around the park
Pedestrian exits to Old Upper Thomson Road . Follow the Langur or Macaque trails
Public toilets are located near the main entrance
Locate several raised platforms like these for bird-watching ????
