Dia:Beacon, Riggio Galleries is the home for Dia Art Foundation’s distinguished collection of art from the 1960s to the present. The museum, which occupies a former Nabisco box-printing facility along the Hudson River, features works by some of the most significant artists of the last half century.

My favorite museum in the New York area and one of my top fives in the world. Housed in an old Nabisco box printing factory , their collection of Flavin, Serra Lewitt, and more is incredible.
I live in awe of the Richard Serra ellipses . Go early so you can experience in relative quiet before the crowds. And wear quiet shoes !
A beautiful place to spend the day. You can purchase a package with train tickets and museum entry at Grand Central. The cafe is great. Make sure to take advantage of a free tour !
Incredible collection of contemporary art . Flavin, De Maria, Ufan, Rockburne, Chamberlain, Warhol, Kawara.
Amazing and interesting museum . Your mind will wander. Make sure you can enjoy minimalist modern art or you will be very bored. Floors are polished so good idea not to wear sneakers .
So, so worth the trip from NYC! You can get return train + entry as a package from the ticket machines at Grand Central. Recommended to lovers of conceptual art on a big scale. And good café food!
The place is huge! Go when you have the day off because there's a lot to see. And different floors too. Personally, I liked the ones involving lights better. And the food is also great.
A must-see for modern art aficionados. Don't miss the sculptures by John Chamberlain, wall drawings by Sol LeWitt , fluorescent light installations by Dan Flavin, and the Richard Serra pieces .
Great destination for a day trip from NYC. Get a combined MetroNorth and museum ticket at the ticket machine in Grand Central and save about 50% (I think) on your museum admission.
Great collection of minimalist art , many are site specific installations making Dia a very special place. If you wear sneakers , your shoes may squeak on the polished cement floors.
Amazing place. The exhibits are fascinating and the grounds are beautiful. It's also great for kids who appreciate art .
Located right on the shores of the Hudson River , art lovers and nature enthusiasts alike get a lot out of a trip to Dia, especially with its wide range of exhibitions , large book shop, and cafe .
One of the greatest art pilgrimages w/in an easy distance of NYC. Take the train to the former Nabisco factory & spend a day in a Minimalist Mecca. The Heizers are spectacular, but so are the Serras.
For contemporary art lovers, a trip to Dia:Beacon is considered a pilgrimage. It's easily reachable via the Metro-North Railroad from New York City . Read more
Large-scale works by Dan Flavin , Richard Serra & Andy Warhol are on display in this converted Nabisco factory that’s now on the National Register of Historic Places. Free tours on Saturdays at 1 p.m.
This place is bigger then I thought it would be. Lots of interesting contemporary are with a good book store and cafe . Nice to have a museum like this so close by.
The collection and the space are incredible. After seeing the artwork, do take the time to go out to the little garden off the right side of the entrance.
The question is - what is not amazing about this museum ! The best experience I have ever had in a museum
LOVE it here! Mentally prepared to spend 2 hours, ended up rushing it in 3 because they were closing. Map is helpful to not miss any exhibits :)
This museum is amazing! Make sure you grab a description card just outside each room. Gives a nice description of the artist and the background of the art .
So many great Conceptual pieces — Sol Lewitt etc. Surprisingly fun for people who don't like art too!
Great little day trip from Manhattan! Make sure you purchase the Getaway package through Metro North!
Walk around and into Serra's Torqued Ellipses. Ponder the heaviness of the human condition and, only if you are up for it, the sheer frailty of existence and being.
Be sure to check out the hours, as they change seasonally (eg closing at 4pm in the winter)
A magical experience. Reminds me of the Danish museum of modern art , Louisiana. Definitely worth the train ride out of the city . And very easy as well .
Such a good collection of contemporary art . I bet if you take a break from ‘gramming, you’d learn about the artists who are the reason you’re here.
Beautiful space, very low key . Tons of awesome work by Dan Flavin
I obviously broke the rule, but... No photos allowed. Sad. Great place, though.
Unique modern art museum that is totally worth the train ride up the hudson
What a space. Incredible gallery and fantastic permanent collection. A great getaway day, an hour from NYC.
Speaking of Beacon, taking the time to take in the art at this outpost of Dia will be time well spent. Sitting amongst the Andy Warhol's alone will make you feel like you're one with art history.
Get there right when it opens up and enjoy it with less people around!
Take a tour and you'll learn a lot more about the work. Favorite exhibitions : Serra, LeWitt, Martin, Heizer
Beautiful museum and a nice train ride from Grand Central up to Beacon along the Hudson.
Contemporary art at its best only 90 minutes from NYC. Make sure you check out Beacon too.
MTA has a great deal for a round trip ticket and admission to Dia coming from NYC. Take advantage during Summer Fridays
One of the best museums , always worth the trip
Handicap accessibility is very good. Really enjoy the layout and diversity of exhibit (s).
Excellent modernist art gallery (have lunch at The Roundhouse while you're in Beacon).
Take the tour ! Our guide gave some great context for the works and how to best experience them
This amazing museum is easily accessible by train . It's a beautiful 80 minutes trip from Grand Central.
Come just to wander and admire the space itself. The art is just a bonus!
Dia's northern outpost is one of the country 's best galleries . Any time of year, it has a massive collection of modern works of art from the 1960s on.
One of the best day trips from the city . Take Metro-North along the Hudson Walk slowly through one of the Serra 'torqued ellipses' and watch it get dark...twice!
One of the biggest modern art museums in the country . Great day trip from NYC.
Amazing museum , full of natural lights and plenty of space. Very relaxing
Atmosphere. Food
TOTALLY WORTH THE TRIP. One of the best museums I've ever been to!
Honestly one of the coolest museums I've ever been to
