The tasting menus at lunch are not only some of the best Japanese food I've ever had, but best meals ever.

Creative, fresh, delicious rolls . Great cocktails . And a sleek, modern, comfortable design make this one of the best sushi spots in DC Metro area.

The cuisine is 100 percent Japanese in its philosophy, but you would not find anything like this in Japan (except for the sushi , they are classic). Truly unique culinary experience.

What to get: Pan-fried dumplings stuffed with chicken and shiso ; salmon ceviche with ikura (salmon roe ) and yuzu vinaigrette ; vegetable and shrimp tempura .

The Sweet & Spicy roll here is a treat — each topped with a jalapeño slice

The four course tasting menu was absolutely stunning. I was expecting a lot and they over delivered.

Extremely high quality tuna and salmon sushi rolls . Better than any other sushi in area.

Sushi Omakase was amazing! Sit at the bar and let them take care of you.

Avoid tables in the main dining room close to the hallway that lead to the front of the restaurant . Lots of foot traffic, and contrasting background music competing for your attention.

The winding, soaring space in Chevy Chase is dazzlingly modish, but we prefer the original, a tiny two-story dining room that’s an exercise in cool minimalism.

The salmon ceviche is my favorite

Mango-salmon roll (or nigiri ), soft shell crab , and tuna-jalapeño rolls all recommended. The coconut sorbet & mango dessert is amazing.

The seaweed salad and the salmon is superb!

The Element roll and the Brussels sprouts are incredible.

Ignore the rolls and go with the sashimi and cooked dishes. Soups are also excellent.

Spicy crunchy tuna with avocado is pretty damn good!

The emperor ate here... so should you :) This was the first sushi place I reviewed at the now Washington Diplomat.

Try the mussel miso eggplant soup ! It's amazing

Omakase is a steal!

No brown rice offered, at least as of this writing. Slower than average wait for drinks and food arrival. Spacious , though, and they have fun tea cups.
