Excellent ricotta pie and the lobster tails are sooo good!!! The mini ones are sfogliatellas and they do have a different filling. They have a great selection of desserts and everything looks amazing!

Was waiting in a very long line at Mikes , when a bouncer nearby said Modern was better. We took him up on it and left our line to try Modern’s Cannolis and they were so delicious! Loved it

Very busy at most hours, and a direct competitor to Mike 's Pastry down the road . I personally get the ricotta pie and/or ricotta cookies during the holiday season!

Cannoli are much fresher tab Mike 's. Their other Italian pastries such as the French horn are worth a try as well . It's difficult to not be tempted by the cake display...

Made a name for itself despite the competition from Mike 's, the lines are much shorter and the new location is brighter and more spacious .

Walk in, close your eyes, and take a deep breath. That divine smell is the smell of an authentic Italian pasticceria. Mike 's is nice, but Modern Pastry is better. It's like getting a treat with Nonna!

Try the Canoli And Ricotta Pie - The pie was out if this world so smooth, creamy and sweet while the canola with their crunch shells gave you something to sink your teeth into!

Lobster Tails aren't on display but they'll make your tongue slap your brains out. Awesome.

The lobster tails could feed at least a couple people each. Their truffles are to die for. Can't really go wrong here, and the line is usually much more manageable than Mike 's.

Best cannoli in Boston , but the real show stopper is the lobster tail stuffed to the gills with cream. It's a meal.

I didn't think the cannoli was as amazing as everyone said it was...the best cannoli I've had is from Graffiato in Washington, D.C.

Lemon squares were very disappointing. Pine nut and pistachio cookies were yummy, but my pastry standards are a little higher.

Mike 's has significantly more cannoli flavors to choose from. Modern has more pastry options in general.

I haven't tasted Mike 's pastry so I can't compare the cannolis . It's good though. The lobster tail is overwhelmingly big!

Come early, avoid the line , have a delicious reward for the end of the day. I suggest the tiramisu .
