Often overlooked for the higher profile Tate Modern -- which is sad, because this collection and its building is tremendous. 20th century British section is an ongoing education for me.
Try to view the pieces in chronological order. In the end there is a room with computers showing nice video guide about the museum . It really helps to understand what you just have seen. Free wifi
the building it self is amazing!tate britain is really great! turner hall is amazing! especially queen elizabeth 1's portrait is a must see!spend half a day at least!
Edward Burnes Jones exhibition was very good. The permanent exhibition is less robustly laid out/narrated and it’s harder to make sense of it. However, the collection is really strong.
On the -1 floor there are different types of restaurants and cafes . Beautiful interior and nice exhibitions .
Not the Tate Modern ! A rather overlooked museum which is a shame because well worth a visit. And a beautiful staircase!
It's unfortunate that Tate Britain has a been overshadowed by its younger sibling Tate Modern , but if one is into British Art history, this is the place to be!
Pretty small museum with some pretty amazing artwork. Find the painting of Icarus - it's incredible to look at. Also, right outside gallery 2 is a piece of art that honors tragic fallen heroes.
Beautiful architecture and British Art to admire and see. The tours are really interesting too.
The hour-long tours will give you some really great information on just a handful of pieces. And they’re free!
Love the art inside the museum ,especially for moeslim artist there. And also dont forget to try mango and lemon cake , thats really good
One of the greatest galleries in the world, without a doubt. The permanent collection is great. The temporary exhibitions get very crowded , and are sometimes hard to see.
Architecturally , it stands in great contrast to that of the Tate Modern in terms of architecture . Definitely worth the visit.
You can have a broad look at British and international art history. Turner Collection is excellent but Pre-Raphaelites, too! Don't forget to see "Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose ".
Brilliant temporary exhibitions (Hockney retrospective is/was outstanding) with beautiful pieces of art on constant display as well .
Turner's displays showcase different stages and passes of his interests, commissions as well as sketches to completed works. Being a Brummie I was delighted to see works from Burne-Jones too!
Went to see the David Hockney exhibition it was an excellent display of work spanning several decades from the 60's to 2014. The composition of the exhibition was well thought through.
Try to view the pieces in chronological order. In the end there is a room with computers showing nice video guide about the museum . It really helps to understand what you just have seen. Free wifi
It was a great surprise that the Tate is free (£4 donation is requedted). only for single rooms in the basement ticket needed. a beautyful museum with diverse srtworks thrigh all centurys. :)
The old great British artists , the YBA's, Tracey Emin's bed. It's a beautiful collection and a stunning museum combining old and new.
Great as a lunchtime jaunt or a longer more relaxing visit. It's free unless you would like to make a donation. Always has the interesting to wild & whacky!
Beautiful architecture and helpful staff gave us ideas of what we wanted to prioritise. Free entry and unhurried access to classic and contemporary art
Impressive the way the museum is organized , chronologically, showing not only the evolution of British art but also of the country itself. Therefore it is really important to visit the rooms in order.
It is a nice place...a little bit crowded than Tate modern , which i prefer...but there are great expositions ....u should try if you starving for British art .....
Amazing artworks and exhibits . The art from different decades - particularly the 80s-90s were blowing away my mind
Download a Tate Britain app on your device. It's free and available for iOS and Android. This is an audio guide which helps to learn more about the history of Britain in paintings and sculpture . Enjoy
The David Hockney exhibition as well as Queer British Art was great. The rainbow flag at the top of the building was a nice touch, too.
Worth a visit, even if you're not an arty person. Take the boat trip up to the Tate Modern afterwards for some mind boggling modern art .
Wonderful British art for last centuries. Shows culture and history of Great Britain in paintings and sculpture .
It’s quiet and pleasant. Like to drink a coffee outside when the sun is out.
Tate Modern gets all the attention, but the original Tate Gallery has a more inclusive brief. It opens until 10pm every Friday and Late at Tate Britain takes place on the first Friday of each month. Read more
Favourite gallery in all of London. A room for each decade. Hundreds of Turners; Henry Moore; Tracey Emin; Damien Hirst. Bus , boat or tube for travel.
Free access, good art , design & illustration museum . Nice outdoor garden & seatings.
Lots of good British art - walk from here along the Thames - past Houses of Parliament, Big Ben - cross Westminster Bridge - go on up past the London Eye to the Festival Hall for lunch
Nice place for a picnic outside the the Tate Britain - Eating Falafels with hot chilli sauce and limonade!
Late Nights : Explore art after hours the first Friday of every month. With access to the exhibitions , performances , and talks there is no better way to visit the Tate without all the crowds.
The free LGBTQIA+ tour is great
If you're not into modern art don't do the Turner Prize exhibition , my traditionally inclined friend really disliked it!
Don't miss the astonishing Turner exhibit . Incredibly amazing! And what a pretty building!!
Some Exhibitions cost extra but the main museum is free. There is a small restaurant in the lower floor if you get hungry or need a coffee .
Great service for members. Nice cafe with comfy seating . Great place to grab a cuppa before seeing the exhibition . Also love the beautiful art deco spiral stair case.
HenryMoore sculptures are awesome! They are at the end of the route so most ppl miss them; dont!

Impressive English art + contemporary international art permanent collection, free "Late at Tate" events (1st Friday of each month, 6:00-10:00pm). Notice the bombing traces on the exterior walls
Costs for the regular exhibition is for free. Mobile network is a little bit weak inside the gallery .
After the renovations were complete just over a year ago, the Walk through British Art is outstanding. The new members room is a delight.
