John Marshall built his home from 1788 to 1790 and lived there until his death in 1835. On the National and Virginia historic registers. The house has undergone remarkably few changes since Marshall's ownership.

TIMES-DISPATCH FACT: John Marshall, who was appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1801, is the longest serving chief justice in history. He ruled the court for 34 years.
A good tip for parking in the area is to visit the Library of Virginia across the street before coming to see us, then you can park in the underground lot!
