Phoenix Mountain Preserve is a nature preserve Phoenix located in United States.
3800 E Dunlap Ave (40th Street) Phoenix , AZ 85028 United States
A great, less crowded alternative to Piestawa Peak or Camelback Mountain . Get to the top, enjoy some trail mix and the beautiful view . Especially if there have been winter rains!
The 40th St. trailhead (9200 N. 40th St. is easily my favorite place in the Phoenix Trail system to view at sunset . The parking lot closes at 7pm or sunset , whichever comes first.
A great place to hike and or bike . Alone, with friends or a date, an all around beautiful natural area within such a large city .
Listen for the coyotes just after sunset . Such an eerie experience to hear them howl.
Great place for a hike , mt. bike ride , or horse ride . Once you're here, you don't even realize you're in the city .
Have to walk a while from the lot to get to the more intense stuff
Best hiking in Phoenix metro area! Try Dixie Peak for a good thigh burn.
Great access to the Phoenix Mountain Preserve trail system . Parking is safe and patrolled.

Despite the weather, bring LOTS of water (more than you think you will need). Also, plan your trip so you have enough time before sundown. Never hurts to let people know where you're going also. - Dawna Higgins

This is hands down the best grocery store EVER! Valet parking, food wine selections, friendly staff. Next time I'm in Scottsdale this is my store of choice. - Heath Day
Shhhh. Don't tell anyone else about this hike or it will get ruined by Lululemon-wearing, Range Rover driving weekend warriors like so many other fallen mountain trails in the central valley. - Michael Moses
Happy hour is incredible, beer list is great, enough TVs, and food has great spice if you want it - Jordan Weyenberg
