Color maps of the trails created by the South Mountain Conservancy can be purchased at a few local shops, the Maplewood Library , or online via donation at somocon.org.

For the summer: Burts Bees Bug Repellent and breathe through your nose. Bugs like dark moist places ;).

Print out a map online beforehand and you'll be much better off.

How do you have no maps at the trailhead ??? Trails are poorly marked too. Hope this isn't representative of all Essex County Parks . And the online map is no help even though I had Internet.
