Kreuz Market, the oldest and best-known BBQ joint in Lockhart (arguably the barbecue capital of Texas), has been smoking for more than a century. Go early before the best cuts sell out.

Mike Winston

A trip to Lockhart is not complete without a Jalapeño Cheese Sausage link from Kreuz. They are ridiculously snappy & absurdly juicy inside. Truly incredible. Read all about it on WinstonWanders below! Read more

This spot was my fave (near Lockhart)... smoker room smells amazing + plenty of seating with A/C + cheddar brat was juicy and simply perfect + brisket and turkey were rubbed on point, but a tad dry!!!

Monica Desai

Brisket is divine and juicy, jalapeño cheddar sausage a great pairing - this place feels like a BBQ institution

Marc

Thrillist Top BBQ List: Fatty, tender brisket and spicy , house-ground jalapeno sausage ; add a pork chop , too. Don't ask for a fork (they believe meat should be eaten w/hands) and don't ask for sauce

Kyle L

Good choice of sides. Beans were excellent. Brisket on dry side, plenty of parking for RV. We stopped at every joint in town the other day, asked for lean from all of them. Blacks was the best.

Kursad Albayraktaroglu

Real BBQ , the way Texans used to enjoy it one hundred years ago. Not for the faint of heart, don't expect much in the way of fancy decoration and ambience. Worth the drive to Lockhart.

Adam Rogers

Easily the best of the four in Lochkart. It might seem more commercialized than the others, but the food is off the chain here. Only brisket I've had that's better is Pecan lodge and Luling Market .

Michael Wright

Best in Lockhart. Get one hot and a pound of lean. Get some cheese strips, some sweet pickles mix, onions and a root beer . You have a meal fit for the gods.

Chris Topher

I enjoyed the family friendly menu. Try the brisket & the sausage links ! I'm always a fan of tea and I highly suggest the freshly brewed here. Awesome meal!

Dustin Lee

Incredible brisket - feel the difference the moment you cut into it. Great hot link . Best of the big 3 in Lockhart

Meats are fantastic plan to take some home you don't have to order s pound but you should. Skip the Mac and cheese but try the sauerkraut

John Booth

Amazing brisket and the jalepeno and cheese sausage is great too. Not to be missed, worth the trip out to lockhart.

Shane Mericle

I think the experience is as good as the meat. Simple and good is what this place is. No sauce, no plates, old school. great dried sausage at the meat counter as well .

Nico Pitney

"Truest example of Hill Country bbq . Style created by German butchers who settled in area. Beef is dominant, then pork and homemade sausage "

Brian Farris

Feels like Texas BBQ . Brisket is lean and tasty. Sausage is the bomb.

Kenneth Tiong

Excellent jalapeno-cheese sausage 5/5. Normal sausage 4.75/5. Pork Chop a smoky flavor 4.25/5. Brisket flavorful but tough 4.5/5.

Jeff Meeker

Watch out for the fire! This place is huge. They can serve a lot of people here, so it's a good option for big groups of people

Pao

Wow pretty good brisket with hot sauce . I miss my bbq sauce i cant help it.

Katie B

Awesome green beans . Ham 's good. Get there early!!! They were out of ribs & potato salad & cole slaw by 7pm on Friday night. No forks . No sauce. Fyi.

Stacy Lawler

Very simple bbq . I guess that's what makes it good. Definitely try the jalapeño sausage and the brisket .

Kyle Bunch

One of the true Texas BBQ meccas, the ribs and sausage are as good as you're ever going to have.

Brian P

A nice Peppery rub on the Beef and Ribs , both were moist and tender. Avoid the Pork Chop , smoke was nice but it was dry.

Andrew Alvarez

Brisket is nothing special, maybe just this time. Jal/cheese sausage though, is outstanding.

Greg Gordon

Go during the week if possible. The lines get long on weekends.

Shaun Rance

One of the biggest BBQ places in Lockheart, if not all of Texas. The wood piles alone are impressive but the meat is the main draw here. Amazing sausages .

Tom Adams

The pit smoked meats were satisfactory but 3/4 of our party were very ill the following day; and those odds aren’t a coincidence.

Oasisantonio

One of the best places in Texas to eat the most famous BBQ in the world.

Ingrid Marisol

Baby friendly : One of the few Lockhart BBQ places with a changing table in the bathroom

Kingsley Younger

Kreuz Market won the Food Wars challenge on TV for best barbeque in Lockhart.

The pork chop ! As good as everything is, I would come for the pork chop if they were out of everything else.

Fabian Fernandez

Can't go wrong with a cheese and sausage sandwich . The lemonade here is the best and is homemade ! :D

Trevor John

No matter what you get you will leave here full and happy (although you may have a stomach ache).

Mike Todd

If your BBQ's a pity, don't see Smitty. Get your brisket fix at the joint where Elvis would eat.

Andy Thomas

Flippin' amazing. Make sure to get the jalapeño sausage and pork chops .

Toni Lawson Palmer

We had brisket and ribs . Ribs were had too much pepper and brisket was a little tough. Last minute decision to stop there, probably won't go back.

George Welsh

They say Lockhart is the capital of barbecue I would have to agree probably ate 2 lbs of beef brisket without blinking

Michael Wright

It's all good. If you want to order like a local just say you want a

David McDonald

Brisket and pork ribs were real good!
