Basilica di Santa Maria in Cosmedin

A dusty, dark, humble, but lovely little church with beautiful mosaics in the floor. The Bocca della Verita (Mouth of Truth ) is in the entrance way.

So different and so beautiful. Don't miss it! Only negative: to visit the crypt a guy there will MAKE you pay an "offering"... although there is no official entrance fee (which means no receipt). ????

If you ever wanted to see the disinterred skull of Saint Valentine , finally, your opportunity is at hand.

Don't waste your time with the Bocca Della Verità. The queue is ridiculous. Just go in the church instead, it's much more interesting - venerate the relic of St Valentine .

Want take a photo with the mouth of truth ? 50 cent and maybe you will have to wait in queu, but do not miss it... Open cca 8 - cca 17 hours.

St. Valentine 's (reportedly) scull is dimly lit and not worth stopping by

Don't forget to look in the basement of this medieval church . Here you will find one of the earliest (and smallest ;-)) churches of Rome.

Only the place. You have to pay and stay in queue for 10-20 minutes only for a photo as your hand in the mouth....
