Get lost in this installation-only museum filled w/ works by artists in residence from around the world. The permanent collection highlights artists like James Turrell alongside rotating exhibitions .
On weekends, make sure to arrive in the morning to book a timeslot to view the James Turrell piece. They also have 2 Yayoi Kusama infinity rooms.
Easily one of the coolest museums I've been to. Great venue for events as well ! Nice rotation of exhibitions keeps things interesting.
for the first year i lived in pittsburgh i thought this was an actual mattress factory . Its very modern, and unique. Bogo coupon in the entertainment book . Worth going to at least 3 times a year.
If you still don't believe us, check out the Mattress Factory , a contemporary-art space in an old factory…that produced mattresses. It's as vital an homage to Pittsburgh's prodigal son, Andy Warhol. Read more
visit after mid-september '13, they're switching a lot of the exhibits right now. even though we got in for half the cost, we only got to see half the art ! can't wait to return and see it all.
Great small museum that even my 11yo enjoyed
The polka dots room is pretty cool ????
Boasting "Art you can get into" all are installations taking up major space. Unique and funky, come in the morning and grab a bite at the Boxspring Cafe on the way out.

I loved "yarn world!" The cafe is tasty and the space is a great use.
Give James Turrell 's Pleiades all the time that your eyes need to adjust. You won't be disappointed. And don't forget to grab a snack in the cafe either.
Super weird but very interactive. Will go back for sure!
Fun and interactive. My favorite floor is the third.
Very interesting place and a good price for admission. The always changing exhibits keep me going back.
Super fun spot. Lots of Turrell.
Experience art you can get into — room-sized environments, created by in-residence artists . Check out the site for current exhibitions @ www.mattress.org
Greer Lankton. A thousand times, GREER LANKTON.
Interesting to say the least. This place always creeped me out a little bit but more like an intrigued creepy.
#UGP2012 Welcome to Wonderland! Take a spin on the FUZE art bike ! We've got a FUZE for your unbirthday too!
Stuff! Lots of cool stuff to see. Music
The layout is confusing. I thought I'd be respectful and take the stair to go down two sets and learn I had to use the elevator .
See it all! One of the coolest places in Pittsburgh! Every room is a surprise!
REALLY AWESOME MUSEUM !

Art = yay.
Awesome venue for events like Youth Invasion, with appealing artwork and trendy atmosphere. - Vanessa Thomas
A NARM reciprocal museum - we got into the special exhibit for free, got a gift shop discount, and they offered us free access to the Clayton Mansion tour - beautiful grounds and very nice folk here! - Ami H.
Great place - although I've never been a fan of modern art, so I enjoyed the other exhibits more. - Nikolai May Yde
A private neighborhood park and art installation that's sure to delight with its quirkiness. - Bikabout
This is my favorite coffee shop so far in the entire city of Pittsburgh. The espresso is excellent -- not too strong, not too weak -- and is served with sparkling water and a butter cookie. - Zak Slayback
More great artwork! $20 gets you in all three buildings. - barbee
