Amazing free train exhibit if you happen to come during the holiday season. 2013's theme was World's Fair exhibits from the past. Mini replicas of famous Washingtoninan landmarks add a nice touch.
This is truly the gem of Capitol Hill . A wonderful staff , beautiful flowers , and ever changing exhibits . A nice spot to dine al fresco .

It’s a nice break from the many museums you’ll be visiting along the Mall . It gives you a chance to slow down for a while and just stroll among some beautiful plants. Admission is Free!
It has several different sections from different parts of the world with many beautiful trees and plant and it was really my favorite part of Washington, D.C.!!!
Great place to sit and relax or check out plants from all over the world. Don’t miss the Ant Plant, and Carnivorous Plants.
Awesome space if you're into botany or museums . It's free and has a great selection of flowers and plants. Make sure to visit every room.
Take one of the free 45-minute tours ! They're a great way to get a highlight of all the different rooms. My 4 year old even enjoyed it and is still talking about it.
The botanical garden looks fine especially some it is free. There is also a park from it so visit both
Good place to walk around and get to know about plants from across the world. Gets a bit crowded . There's a lake right outside for good photo op.
Come during Christmas . The trains and mini wooden versions of world landmarks are worth the extra crowds. And it's open late Tuesday's and Thursday's then!
Best air in the city . Find a bench to sit and breathe.

This wonderful garden is often overshadowed by the surrounding sites. Nevertheless, it contains a beautiful collection of plants and flowers . Definitely stop by, and bring a book to read on a bench !
If you're packing a lunch for your DC tour , be sure to eat it here. There are plenty of tables outside in the garden with umbrellas to shade you from the sun.

Explored this place by myself but great thing about it was that it was free! Close to all the museums and the Capitol !

Lots of the exhibits close down for the fall/winter season, including the children’s garden
It's an indoor forest . I prefer the National Arboretum more but this is a great indoor plant-lovers dreamscape. Swing on by-just to knowze in. ????

The garden is a living plant museum & was established by Congress in 1820. The Conservatory reopened in Dec 2001 after a four-year renovation,with approx 4,000 seasonal, tropical & subtropical plants .
The botanic Garden does not open till 10 but if you go early you can enjoy the outside gardens before the crowds arrive.

Find a docent & enjoy the privilege of learning many interesting facts not otherwise obvious, like which trees were of the original 1839 collection. Who knew palms could get so old?
