서울 도성의 남쪽 정문이라서 통칭 남대문(南大門)이라고 불린다. 1395년에 짓기 시작하여 1398년에 완성되었고, 1447년에 개축하였으며, 1479년에 보수하였다. 1962년 12월 20일 국보 제1호로 지정되었다. 현존하는 서울의 목조건물(木造建物) 중 가장 오래된 건물로, 2008년 2월 10일에 발생한 화재로 2층 문루가 소실되고 1층 문루 일부가 불에 탔다. 이후 5년간 복원공사가 진행되었고, 2013년 4월에 옛모습 되찾을 예정이다.

Palace a short walk from Seoul station and close to Namdaemun market . Very pretty and a quick visit. Stop by the patch shop on the main road .
Sungnyemun also know as Namdaemun is one of eight gates from old city wall which in old days surrounded Seoul. Also designated as first national treasure of South Korea . Check opening hours!
It’s wrapped by buildings on any side and sits in a roundabout, which unfortunately makes the view not that impactful. It’s a short walk from Seoul Station so it’s worth the visit if you have time.

Can't just eat & shop!! Sightseeing is awesome too. Bit of culture. This 600+ yrs old gate was once burnt down in 2008. 1st time I saw it in 2010, it was being rebuilt.

南大門 ソウルの高層ビルが建つ中にポッとこういうのがいきなりあるから面白い。そして南大門付近の市場 で靴下12足で12,000ウォンで購入。流石に12足も要らないので一緒に行った友人と6足ずつ購入。スーパーコピーあるよ？と日本語で声をかけられるのに苦笑。何で日本人ってわかるんだろ？w

NAMDAEMUN MARKET: Outdoor traditional market where you can buy almost everything. Walk along the market road and enjoy the various street food. One of my favorites is 'HO-TTEOK'(sugar-filled pancake). - Wonik Choi
