This is mission is rich with California history . Don't bother with bringing stuff to do. Just park downtown, walk to the mission and visit the historic district and all its shops.

The Ritz-Carlton

Mission San Juan Capistrano offers 10 acres of history dating from 1776. The gardens are perfect for relaxing, the mission’s treasures priceless and in the summer concerts are held under the stars.

Was pleasantly surprised. I drive by all the time, but never knew there was so much to the mission. Beautiful place, relaxing gardens , and historic atmosphere. I will definitely be back to enjoy more.

Ruins from 1812 earthquake. Heavy on the Serra adoration- not much mention of the Native America victims. But the grounds are beautiful and peaceful

Never had been before but my grandma wanted to go back. It was beautiful! The gardens and fountains were gorgeous. Go if you can!

Awesome place to bring 4th graders for California history . Extremely crowded in March!

Beautiful grounds and buildings, but a dubious history of oppression that is a little whitewashed.

Fuel up your Nook, Kindle or iPad with Gathering the Indigo Maidens by Cecilia Velástegui. The story touches on the real-life historical figure, Modesta Ávila from San Juan Capistrano in 1889.
