พ.ศ. 2476 กระทรวงคมนาคมรวมอยู่ในกระทรวงเศรษฐการ ต่อมา พ.ศ. 2484 จึงตั้งเป็นกระทรวงคมนาคม สร้างตึกที่ทำการที่ ถ.ราชดำเนินนอกแล้วเสร็จ 3 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2497 และใช้มาจนถึงปัจจุบัน
