The Philadelphia Eagles played the 1948 NFL Championship game in Connie Mack Stadium . The Eagles defeated the Chicago Cardinals 7–0, the only score being a Steve Van Buren touchdown.
In May 1939, it was the site of the first night game played in the American League.
Shibe Park stood on the block bounded by Lehigh Avenue, 20th Street, Somerset Street and 21st Street.
