The best time to be there is about an hour before closing time, you get to hear the lion roaring as he prepares for dinner time. It can be heard all over the zoo . My kids love it.
If you live in the area, it's worth it to buy a membership. It pays for itself so fast if you come here even just once a month, my hubs and I came 15 times last year!
Great zoo that has an easy to get around flow. Definitely do the sting ray bay portion if you want to pet awesome sea creatures (they're very friendly and love being pet !) Skip the butterflies though!
For a unique experience you and your kids will never forget, sign up for a Safari Sleepover at the Jacksonville Zoo and experience life as an animal of the night with a behind the scenes tour !
LOVE this place! One of the best zoos I've been to. Huge variety of animals, friendly employees, and spacious , well-designed habitats. Will definitely be back!
Fun zoo . Alot of great animals, plenty of walking space and affordable . Even when it's crowded , it doesn't feel crowded , which is nice.
For a chance to learn more about the exotic animals first-hand, you can become a Zoo Keeper for a day at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens .
This zoo opened in 1914 but has since relocated to its current location at Trout River . The 1st major purchase was an Asian elephant bought in 1926 after local school children raised money for her.

Have a Family Membership. Great zoo . Skip the extras to save money. Some areas need updating, but overall we always have a good time.
It is great, so many new exibits. The tigers are beautiful. Giraffes are my favorite. You can even feed them.
Be sure to pull out $2 before you come so you can feed the giraffes . It is completely worth it. :)
The gardens are beautiful! If you like gardens , the ones here are worth a visit!
Be sure to bring a lot of cash with you so you can ride the carousel and feed the giraffes :)

Nice zoo ! The aviary was great! My 2 year old loved it in there :-)
Great place to take the kids
For sure bring the kids swim suits. The splash park was a good refresher.
Definitely would come back! Reasonable prices
Best time to visit is Sunday Morning.
I like the zoo . Been there since I was a little baby! ???????? ????
Make sure you feed the birds, the giraffes , and do the sting ray bay ! So worth the money!
So much to check out! Fun for the whole family.
Feeding the giraffes was so fun ????????????????????????
The tigers are so beautiful. Wish I could take one home.
The new butterfly exhibit is in the back by the Asian area.
Wasn't bad. They need to improve a bit. It was a little difficult to navigate & the map didn't help. And what zoo doesn't have tigers? Disappointing. But they do have an anaconda & that's rare. :)
Spend a buck to feed the lorikeets.
Love the Jax Zoo !
Jacksonville Zoo at 13 miles to the southeast of Jacksonville dentist Northpoint Dental
Great place
Everything was great..Awsome staff !
I wasn't impressed with the zoo ! It was small and cost $50 for me and a child. Daughter was disappointed with the two tiny branches she got to feed giraffes . Train was shut down bc of lightning. Skip!
Train ride is a great way to see a lot of the zoo in a short amount of time.
Make sure you visit the giraffes . Best exhibit there!
