Two years before Stonewall, The Black Cat was raided by police . Two patrons were so enraged they began The Advocate, a publication for the gay population of LA and the largest LGBT magazine.

I enjoy coming here early afternoon, grabbing a beer and sitting outside on the street. I always have a good meal here. Which is to be expected from the team that brought LA The Village Idiot.

Had the cauliflower soup , roast chicken , my partner had the pork chop . Don't normally order roast chicken , but SO glad I did - it was goood

OMG the food here is solid. Half a fried chicken , mashed potatoes , braised greens, and cole slaw for $17 on Tuesdays. I don't know if that's really a great deal but it tastes like it.
